This is the place my propensities towards pocket protectors may be examined. As some players in the media pontificate: "We report, you decide", it remains in the readers purview to reach that conclusion for themselves.

Had this problem? |
My first computer was an Apple ][+, purchased in July of 1980. Computers were another sort of animal in those days. I opted to forgo the cost of a monitor and elected to use the family TV for a display device. Because or this sacrifice, I was able to purchase much more RAM memory. Almost the limit for the machine. A scandalous amount of 48 Kilobytes! Yes, 48 Kb, all the RAM I'll every need! Ah the good old days. Back then if you had 1 K of free memory you could print the file on your desktop. Now, you can't even blow your nose with the whole 48K.
I very much enjoyed the old Apple, a fun machine. Back then, I understood most everything about this computer. Learning new languages, writing programs were a great source of pleasure. No self-respecting computer worth its salt could get by without playing chess. The first program that I bought was Microchess. A note to anyone who wants to learn chess, find someone who already knows how to play and work with them and play the computer. That way you can learn strategy and spend as much time as necessary to learn without the computer overhearing what your guru is telling you. Something that you just can’t do with another human opponent. One other thing I noticed, my son had already learned to play the game and very well I might add at a young age. However, I could beat my son consistently but he could beat the computer at a higher rate than I. Which led me to believe that the reason for this is that you can intimidate a human but not the computer and perfectly logical.
