| Norse Path Of Wicca | |||||||||||
| The Norse path is ancient and predates many of the other Wiccan paths. You do not have to be initiated to follow the Norse practice. Typically, rituals are performed clothed-often in traditonal Norse garb. Followers honor and weave Norse mythology, ancient customs, languages, and pantheon into their magickal practice. they also place emphasis on the sea. This has been attributed to the fact that the Vanir, an important Norse family of Gods and Goddesses, are believed to have descended from the sea Gods and Goddesses. Norse followers also focus on Mother Earth; this focus is due to the Aesir, the Norse family of Gods and Goddesses, whose name translates to pillar or foundation. The Runes, the ancient alphabet containing wise mysteries, plays an important role. According to mythology, the great Norse Father God Odin (also know as Woodin) willingly sacrificed himself to the world tree (known as Yggdrasil) by crucifixion in order to gain the Runicic magick. Followers believe that this alphabet contain secretes of the universe, which are more important and essential than matter or energy. Freya Aswynn's book, Northern Mysteries and Magick: Runes, Gods, and Feminine Powers, comes with a CD in which she powerfully chants the Rune alphabet in the ancient tonge. |
