Day 13
Today was our first saturday field trip. We went to Santiago here in Galicia and I really enjoyed it. They split us up into teams and had us only speaking in spanish while we went around the area by the churches and tried to figure out questions about the city.
There was also this "bum" who came up to our group and scared one of our teachers. Some people were scared but I thought the whole situation was pretty funny, he seemed harmless and he left after a minute or so.
I REALLY enjoyed the church in Santiago. Just being inside gives you the feeling that you're inside something the modern world hasn't touched. Theres a pillar in the front where you put your hand in one side then go around the other side and tap your head four times and make three wishes (I think). I really wanted to do it but the line was really long.
I also bought a couple gifts here for people back home. They have a stone here which I think is called "aparache" and aparently your can only mine it in this area. A girl in my class said they also have it where she lives in Italy but it's yellow, and you can only get the black ones here.
Later tonight we went out with almost all the students in our class in tradicional spanish fashion of not REALLY going out until about 2am. It was tiring but I enjoyed finally seeing where people my own age hang out at.
