System Concepts and Basis
Main
D.I.R.E.C.T. Defence is based on a number of sound concepts.
Awareness is Key: Through proper awareness, most physical confrontations can be avoided. We use Cooper's colour codes as a guide.(See Awareness Colour Codes)
The
knowledge of a confrontation (see Structure of a...), understanding fear&adrenaline and knowing the rituals of an attacker are also paramount.
What is D.I.R.E.C.T. Defence?
Why D.I.R.E.C.T. Defence?
Fear and the affects of Adrenaline on the mind and body are very important. The more adrenaline that is released into the body, the more one will perceive fear. As seen on the map, in a confrontation Adrenaline is constantly being released into the body in varying amounts and must be dealt with properly or it may be mistaken as Fear. FEAR can be an acronym for:
False
Evidence Appearing
Real.
If controlled and used properly, Adrenaline can act as a 'Turbo boost' for the body, but, if it is not recognized or controlled it may lead to disaster. D.I.R.E.C.T. Defence teaches how to recognize and use Adrenaline to your advantage.
