Sub: - Suggestions for CESZ server functioning

The sound maintenance section has quite often seen that stations have sent their reports and replies to zonal office beyond office hours and also on Holidays with a few of them even sent from the residences of staff.  There is evidence to the fact that Engineering Heads have sent such mails after hectic work in the Transmitter (to solve a problem) or just minutes before you left the place on leave.  Though some may argue that there is no such pressure and emergency in our dealings with zonal office, we value it much as our box is full with your letters to keep us busy, by the time we start our work the next day or week.

While  retrieving large number of E mails with dial up connection and web based mails (with no POP3 support)  is time consuming and frustrating we lived with that for too long and slowly got over them  with tolerable leased line  speed and paid pop up support. The latest addition of a web server in CESZ office is being exploited quickly to its full advantage. We still have a problem. Our server in not 24 x 7 and perhaps this may be seen as a great handicap by you also, when we want you to send all reports and returns direct to the server (no E mails please, we say it really!!) so that it gets compiled there, as we want,  as a single report than as a 52 Emails scattered all over the Inbox for each information CESZ and Directorate  seek from you.

We also plan to greatly diversify the servers content with the help of professionals so that it has almost all information you want at any time. Of course it is a huge venture though the technology is very easily visible to all with e governance every where. Instead of doing it on our own, it may seem appropriate that a common AIRNET server will do the job, if properly shared by all Zonal Offices but here too we have some limitations. So finally I am forced to seek your opinion on whether our CESZ server should be kept switched on a 24 x 7 basis from right now.  (Suggestions on areas you consider beneficial is also welcome that does not need the server to be kept on always)

(This letter is ready on 13-12-2006 at 2200 Hrs;    I can’t   put it in   our server right now and have to wait for tomorrow till 1000 Hrs.  I can’t also get to read all your compiled replies, even if you have all sent it before 1700 Hrs on 15-12-2006, as our server will   function again only from 1000 Hrs on    18-12-2006 )

Please send your replies as far as possible by 1630 Hrs on  15-12-2006.
