SUB: -  Regional Workshop in South Zone

 

                    The Regional Workshop of South Zone is picking up speed and with increased activities, it will be of a great help to all stations. While stations will continue to do and step up whatever repair work they are doing, the Regional Workshop would concentrate on equipments that are lying unattended for long, whatever may be reason. Priority has to be given to equipments which are NOT still outmoded and its repair / usage will help the stations and also will avoid procurement of new equipments / spares.

 

                    All stations are therefore requested to give a list of such equipments with all details as mentioned below.

 

                     The list should include all accessories and spare cards of working equipments also, which in fact needs greater attention.

       (Even if there are NO serviceable defective equipments, stations are requested to give their suggestions on effective functioning of workshop in the REQUIRED row above.)

 

            The workshop will also study new equipments being inducted in to the network as most of them initially are consigned to Zonal Office Stores and remain there for some time. The Regional  workshop will also initiate a hands on  practice, study of available features and  evaluation of new equipments in co-ordination with stations, wherever possible, till a new Regional Staff Training Institute (T), Chennai is  started soon.

                 

         

                   A list giving details of staff who have got the necessary aptitude and capacity to service spare cards etc may also be sent, with a brief report on work already carried out by them. They NEED not be posted to workshop but still workshop will derive some benefit from station.

 

                    It may be mentioned here that such capable persons will have to be given suitable assignments within the station and also new talents are to be developed. We have already suggested to Directorate special Awards for engineering staff based on personal performance at zonal level.  Directorate may issue suitable orders soon. Hence available talents are to be used and kept motivated.
