Here are some pointers for making the oral presentations:
- Maintain good eye contact with the audience.
- Don't block the screen when addressing the audience.
- Don't read your presentation from the screen or from sheets. If you
need to have notes, don't put them on large pieces of paper - it's too distracting.
Use small cards instead.
- Ensure that the grammar and spelling are correct.
- Make sure slides are easy to read. Ensure that there are not too
many words on each line, that the font is not too small, and that the colors
are not too hard on the eyes.
- Don't use too many animation and sound effects.
- Speak clearly and not too fast.
- Try to use voice modulation and hand gestures to emphasize key points.
- If you freeze, DON'T WORRY! Just relax, pause, take a breath, and
take a moment to collect your thoughts before continuing.
- Practice makes perfect. Practice with a friend, colleague, or even
in front of a mirror.
