Q: I work time and study full time, is there enough time to do the it project?
A: Of course. The project simply replaces the exam found in other modules. As with everything, starting early is important. The more time you put into the programme, the more you'll get out of it.
Q: I don't know PowerPoint. How can I learn how to use it for making presentations?
A: There are a number of good PowerPoint tutorials on the Internet. Check in the Notes section for more details. As well, we'll use part of one lecture to cover PowerPoint basics, which should get everyone started.
Q: When are the essays due?
A: Generally, an essay for a module is due before the exam of that module. As there is no exam in IT, the essay will be due before the project is due, which is around the end of January.
Q: How long are the essays supposed to be?
A: 2500 words, plus or minus 10% is generally the accepted rule. This works out to be approximately 10 pages, double spaced.
Q: If I decide to take the IT module and I do not do well, can I then decide to do three modules in the spring thereby cancelling out the IT?
A: Unfortunately, if you decide to take the module for credit, you won't
be able to cancel it out if you don't do well. But, as long as you
put in the effort and work consistently, you WILL do well. The only
way of not doing well is if you start everything at the last minute, don't
go to class, don't ask questions, etc. etc. If you need help, don't
be afraid to ask.
