South Korea: A land of scenic wonders, ancient national treasures, amethyst, ginseng & of course the infamous
Kim Chi. I still remember with a shudder when I had to face with Kim Chi in every meal, including breakfast.
Another 'memorable' experience was the exhorbitant fees charged by the tour photographer for every picture
he took for us. And it was in US dollars not Korean Won. But of course, not all experiences I had in Korea
was that 'unforgettable'.

Pulguksa Temple in Kyongju
I have never seen a temple in such a scenic
& serene settings as this. Compared to the
hustle bustle & the skyscrapers in Singapore,
this place was a paradise.

Built in 752, Pulguksa Temple is the largest &
most imposing temple complex in the Kyongju
district. There are six national treasures:
2 traditional staircases, 2 stong pagodas & 2
gilt bronze Buddha images.

I was told that autuum would have been a more spectacular time to visit here as the entire
surroundings would be covered in hues of
orange & red.

Songsan Il Chulbong (The Sunrise Peak) in Cheju
After the strenuous one hour trek to the top, I was rewarded with a spectacular view of the coastline of Cheju Island. It was so humid that I was drenched in sweat on the way up the crater.

A plateau-like basin which is the crater of an extinct volcano, it juts out on a peninsular far into the sea. 99 jagged rocks stand along the rim of the crater, producing an image like a crown.


Roller Coasters in LotteWorld & Everland
This is the first overseas trip that I tried 3 different roller coaster rides: 2 in Everland & 1 in LotteWorld. The suspended roller coaster in Everland was a totally exhilarating experience though I felt extremely dizzy after the ride with all the turns & drops. The indoor roller coaster with a huge loop between 2 floors was a new experience as I have never taken an indoor roller coaster ride before. I thoroughly enjoyed myself in these 2 amusement parks.
