April 4, 2004 Update
As many of you already know, several of us on the island have been taking Scuba Diving classes in the hopes of getting our PADI Certification and begin scuba diving soon. Even though we haven't completed our final class yet, we went 'diving' in the water just yesterday.  Steve, Evan and I showed up to class at 11am on a Saturday, a little hung over, and not quite in a learning mood. Upon jumping into the water to take our lesson, I immediately lost my snorkel. Steve was next, and his weight belt fell off and sunk to the bottom of the ocean, probably 15 feet down.  When he attempted to dive down and pick it up, we learned that no matter how hard you try to swim downward with a big tank of air on your back and no weights, it just won't work! Evan and I couldn't stop laughing. During some of our other drills, which involved cutting off your air supply, taking off your mask, etc. while down around 10-15 feet, Steve panicked, held his breath and bolted for the surface, not once, but twice!  Apparently Steve will be re-taking that class session, as our instructor gave him a snorkel to take home and practice in the bathtub. Needless to say we had a great time and probably extended our lives a good year or so from laughing so much.

After that, we did what we usually do on Saturdays and Sundays, pack up our backpacks and head to the beach!  We've been lucky so far this year, as most weekends have been pretty nice, but yesterday it was warm and sunny until we got absolutely dumped on by the hardest rain storm I have ever seen.  Luckily it only lasted 20 minutes at best, and was gone as fast as it came, but it still left us all soaking wet!

Now that Georgia Tech and UConn are in the finals, I am officially maxed out on all of my NCAA brackets. I had 1 really good showing on espn, and a very average ranking in our office bracket here in Bermuda. Oh well, it was a fun tournament this year no matter what the final outcome is.  Until next time,

Cheers!
