COLD CHISEL BACK AFTER 13 YEARS COLD CHISEL, Australia's most popular rock act from the early-'80s, has officially reformed. After a decade of speculation and rumour, guitarist Ian Moss has told The Daily Telegraph that the original line-up of Cold Chisel, fronted by Jimmy Barnes, has been rehearsing together in Sydney and hopes to have an album of new songs out by the end of the year. A national tour will follow in February or March. "We've done some rehearsing and so far it feels pretty good," Moss said. "There was definitely a bit of nervousness about whether people could still play and whether we still had it, but I think the magic is still there." The five members of Cold Chisel -- Barnes, Moss, keyboardist Don Walker, bassist Phil Small and drummer Steve Prestwich -- spent two weeks holed up in a rehearsal room below the Sydney Opera House early last month. It is 13 years since the band played its last show at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. "The scary thing is, it doesn't feel like 13 years," Moss said. "In a lot of ways I've been looking forward to getting back to playing with the guys for a long time. "It took splitting up and getting away from them to realise how good they were to play with. "And the playing we've done so far has proven that's the case." Various members discussed the possibility of reuniting as far back as 1988, but it wasn't until the start of 1995 that Moss, Barnes and Walker agreed to individually begin penning songs with the aim to record an album.
