LENNYS RID OF A DREAD WEIGHT HAIR today, gone the next in the flash of a razor. Retro rock star Lenny Kravitz has arrived in Sydney with a new head, minus its trademark metre-long dreadlocks. Kravitz rid himself of all his dread weight a few days earlier in Los Angeles in what he's labeled a "private ceremony" with his ex-wife, actress Lisa Bonet. "It was one of those moments where you have to get rid of all the things you're comfortable with and just change," said the singer. "Get rid of the old vibes. Cut it and grow it again. "It was kind of a ceremony. It was very private. "Just one day up in the mountains, got the razorblade out and chopped it." Kravitz is in Australia on a brief promotional tour, the final stop of a three-month world tour selling his new album, 5. It's Kravitz's first new CD in more than three years and a record he admits he nearly didn't make. Having decided to take an elongated break from the spotlight following the death of his mother, actress Roxie Roker, Kravitz said he had second thoughts about stepping back into the world of rock 'n' roll. "I almost didn't come back," he said. "But I think that's just because you get into your break, you get into living. "I was out in the Bahamas, out in the middle of nowhere, just kind of being private, taking care of my kid (nine-year-old daughter Zoe), being a dad. "It was very fulfilling. There was a part of me that didn't want to stop doing that. But I decided in the end that it wasn't time for that yet. Too young." Back in his role of international celebrity, Kravitz is again being romantically linked to some of the world's most beautiful woman. The latest is Aussie songstress Natalie Imbruglia. Kravitz said he will return to Australia early next year for a proper concert tour.
