| MARILLION |
Marillion
- Marillion.com. Delivering the goods, as they always have. There aren't too
many weak Marillion albums, and this great album is sure to cement their
reputation as one of England's most popular modern prog bands. |
| PAUL RODGERS |
Paul Rodgers -
Electric. Surely one of
the greatest voices in rock, from any country in the world? As long as Paul
Rodgers is still around, there will always be hope for blues and rock music.
From his early days with Free to Bad Company to The Firm to his solo albums,
the man consistently shows that he has few equals. Buy.Now! |
| RIK EMMETT |
Rik
Emmett - Raw Quarter. If you were wondering what happened to the great
Triumph guitarist, wonder no more. He's released quite a few solo albums since
he left his Canadian buddies in the late 80's, and he's doing quite well,
thank you very much! Mind you, with a talent like what he has, he can only
succeed. They should supply this CD with a napkin for those of you who tend to
drool when you hear guitar playing of this quality. This blues album is the
third and final CD in a trilogy which covers his stylistic roots ( the
previous two covered classical and jazz ). Love to see him back in Triumph,
though! |
| BEDLAM |
| Bedlam
- Anthology. Do you
remember their sole album, the one with the hand coming out of the rubble, way
back in the early seventies? It was a masterpiece of good, solid British
blues/ rock, with some seriously good guitar and bass from the Ball brothers
and vocals from Frankie Aiello, as well as devastating drumming from one of
England's finest, the late, great Cozy Powell. Bedlam basically evolved out of
Big Bertha, and this double CD covers tracks from that era as well as some
well played live tracks. Some of the tracks sound as if they were recorded
using a hand held mike, but what the hell - this is history, guys. If you
lamented the fact that only one album was released by this great band, now's
your chance to rectify that, thanks to Zoom Club Records. |
| ROCKET SCIENTISTS |
| Rocket
Scientists - Oblivion Days. As far as we know, this is the third album
from keyboard player Eric Norlander's band. ( If his name rings a bell like
Quasimodo's face, you probably know him from Lana Lane's albums. He adds a
really strong dimension into that luscious ladies music. She, in turn, has
appeared on previous Rocket Scientist albums, as she does on this one.). In
this modern world of synthetic, soulless music, it really is a pleasure to see
that bands like the Rocket Scientists still exist today. Any of their albums
are highly recommended ( if you can find them here in South Africa, that is!) |
