Cedric is an 12 yr.old wirehaired dachshund/scotty mix from Virginia weighing 15 lbs. who was rescued from the pound on his last day by a kind woman who runs an all breed rescue in Fredericksburg, VA. That is where Cedric first met Dino. We had brought Dino to the rescue to find a sister for him. But on that cold November day in 2002, Dino told us he wanted a new brother, Cedric. The two have been great friends ever since. Cedric has learned to come out of his shell and develop into the true terrier we know he is. Early in 2003, Cedric was diagnosed with grade 4 subluxed patella on the right. This dislocation of the knee cap is a condition in mostly small breeds, and is usually congenital rather than due to injury. Cedric successfully underwent surgery, wore a cast, and restricted his activity for several weeks. He is now recovered, and is no longer in pain. He passed his basic obedience class with the highest score in June 2003. He continued to train and successfully passed his AKC Canine Good Citizen test in October 2003. Not bad for an ex-stray off the streets! Since then, Cedric has shown himself to be a true wirehair dachshund/scotty mix, performing admirably at den trial activities. At his first real AWTA Den Trial, Cedric qualified and won a 4th place Novice B ribbon in a field of 18. Cedric is an expert hunter, eliminating moles in tunnels, birds in bushes, and small fish in ponds. In obedience, Cedric placed 1st in Sub-novice at the 2004 All-American AMBOR trial in MD with a 194.5 score and recently earned his AMBOR CD title in Feb 2006. Cedric injured a disc in his back in July '06 and had to get acupunture and rest. He is now recovered. We have ramps in the house and he gets carried up/down the stairs now. At 12 years old, Cedric remains active, but is on medication for his heart. He is such a mellow grateful little guy, friendly with most everyone, he shows his terrier ancestry by sticking up for himself when needed. And of course he always backs up his big brother, Dino.

2/16/08: Cedric earns his first leg in Level 3 Rally-O, and a nice 4th place ribbon. He also mastered a directed jump, first time in competition. A proud moment.
10/14/07: Cedric finishes his APDT Rally Champion Excellent (ARCHX) title in 5 straight tries. Stellar job Cedric !
8/16/07: High Scoring Veteran award with a perfect 210 score at Pup N Iron in VA. Well on his way to his ARCHX title soon. Wow !
9/10/06: New APDT Rally Champion. Cedric completes his ARCH title with 5 straight double Q's and points to spare. What a tremendous accomplishment at 9+ years of age.
2/26/06: Cedric finishes his last Nov B leg with a 178.5 at a CTA match. Thus we complete a 3 year quest for his CD, which often seemed beyond our reach. I'm glad we kept trying. Great work, Cedric.
1/15/06: Cedric earns his final leg in Level 2 rally with a 194 and 3rd place. New RL2 !
11/27/05: Cedric qualified in two APDT Level 2 trials. Score 188/4th place, and 187.
New Rally Title: 8/7/05 Cedric earns his APDT RL1 title with scores of 196/193/196 and places 2nd, 3rd, and 1st. Cedric qualifies for the Rally Award of Excellence for Level 1. Excellent job Cedric !
*Update: 1/9/05 After lots of hard work, Cedric earned his 2nd Novice B leg at CTA's Run Thru, scoring 190.5. Yipee!
*First Novice Leg: 8/14/04 Cedric qualified in his first Novice B trial at the Mid-Atlantic Australian Shepherd Club's Obedience trial in Newark, DE. Way to go Cedric. Mommie is so proud of you and how much you've developped since we started. |
