I wanted this picture put up because it's very special to me personally. When the Dean Martin Show began (and this shot is from early on in the show's run) I was about 4 or 5 and so while I know that I watched it (I was the only kid in elementary school who got to stay up til 11 Pm on Thursday nights -- IF i was goood!!!) I have few real memories of watching it then. But THIS is one of them -- and this was the moment that I knew (even then!) that I loved Dean Martin!! And through the years that special feeling grew as watching Dean in ANYTHING became a thrill - a new show was always something to look forward to! The advent of video recorders was the best thing that ever happened to me -- I now have this bit with Dean singing to the dolls on video and I love to watch it!! He was really cute with these dolls -- he made funny jokes and silly little remarks, but when he finally picked one of the dolls up, he did it with a tenderness and a gentleness that I saw even then -- and have heard about from everyone who ever knew him now. There just aren't moments like this on tv anymore!!!
