About Malcolm

Malcolm was born in 1958 in Warwickshire, England and began painting at an early age. He started by painting aircraft of all types and from there progressed onto motorcycles. His first car was painted in 1982 and this created interest with several friends who immediately commissioned paintings of their cars.

Later in 1982 Malcolm visited the UK Ferrari Owners Club for the first time and displayed his artwork to the members. This display together with annual visits to the club's concours event brings in regular commission work, both at events and more commonly by word of mouth.

Malcolm's work has appeared in the owners club magazine.

In the late 1980's a new magazine appeared on the market, called "Ferrari World" and Malcolm worked with the editors to produce artwork which was reproduced as prints in the early editions and also produced the miniature side views which were used in the "buyers guide".

Malcolm's work is held in many collections around the world, and there are many owners who proudly possess a picture of their car(s) which has been painted by Malcolm. Amongst the well known names are Pete Waterman and Robert Lee, both who had several paintings done.

Malcolm's work has been very varied both in type of vehicle and marque, through Ford to Ferrari and Mini to Maserati, he has also done "Herbie" the lovebug and World War 2 tanks.

More recently Malcolm has begun work for members of the Porsche Club GB, and he is looking to expand into other marques of car.

Each painting is hand drawn from photographs, then very carefully painted using Acrylic medium. Depending on the car being painted and its fine detail, a painting can take from 30 to 50 hours to complete.

Malcolm has been painting various subjects using watercolour for a few years but has only recently started to use this medium on motoring and other related subjects. Malcolm has had a lifelong fascination with trams and a recent return to Budapest has resulted in the production of several watercolour paintings and intends to develop in this area. Malcolm is looking to venture into rail related subjects and perhaps look to applying to join the Guild of Railway Artists in the future.

The great thing with one of Malcolm's paintings is that the owner gets a superbly accurate piece of artwork of their pride and joy.

Malcolm hopes you enjoy the website and the images of some of his work contained therein.

STOP PRESS: Malcolm submitted artwork for selection to the Guild of Motoring Artists in early April 2005 and was accepted as an associate member.
