| The next day... Geoffrey Winchester called on Eliza Montgomery. Their interview was cut short by an urgent message to G.W. Caecilia de la Salle went riding with Chester and Annabelle Steed. She secretly sent a note to Lynton Park after G.W., requesting a private meeting. The Forsters called upon Kate Ballard. L.F. stayed at Hindbury for some time, but D.F. continued along to Wickerton. Thomas Montgomery called upon Helen Woodruff. He informed her of his engagement and apologized for any inappropriate actions on his part. H.W. was visited by a Mr. Loomis, who requested the money owed to him by her father. H.W. could not locate any of the money, and there was quite a scene at Heathen Manor. T.M. tried to comfort and assist H.M. before departing. Mrs. Montgomery had a chance meeting with Alexander Halfpenny, who has recently taken Willowford, in Wickerton. He was invited to dine at Lynton Park that evening. They were joined by Catherine Woodruff, T.M., and D.F. It was decided by T.M., D.F., and A.H., to go hunting the next day. H.W. visited E.M. at Lynton Park. C.d.'s billet arrived, which they took the liberty of reading. It was forwarded to G.W. G.W.'s brother, Henry had arrived and found newly discovered information concerning their mother. G.W. received the billet, thinking it was from E.M. and set off for the meeting. C.d., while riding with the Steeds, encountered G.W. There was a short conversation, rather hostile on G.W.'s part. C.d. realized the mistake in her actions after being interrupted by A.S. E.M. and G.W. met by chance. G.W. related his history concerning his mother's leaving the family and remarrying. As dinner time approached, E.M. was introduced to Henry. Mr. John Carrington arrived at Lynton Park after receiving a mysterious invitation. He was greeted and invited to dine by Mrs. Montgomery. C.d. is to perform in the opera Norma tonight and has invited many people, especially C.S. to attend. |
