| I am 16 years old, and just about to make my entrance into society, although I believe that my governess would do what she could to prevent it. I have dark hair, dark eyes, and a fiery temper. I think perhaps much of that come from the fact that my dear parents passed away nearly 7 years ago, and I was given into the guardianship of my brother, Chester. He was perhaps not the most prudent of guardians, enjoying the hunt and fine horses perhaps too much. He was ever indulgent with me in my youth and, although I far preferred our long tramps through the woods and races across the lawn to my lessons, he soon began to realize that I would never turn into a good lady. So, Chester enlisted the help of a stern but respected governess, a widow, Mrs. Pratt. For the past years, Mrs. Pratt has diligently checked my wild ways and prepared me to make my entrance into society. I have, however, retained my temper, as the unfortunate lady has been witness to on several occasions. |
