Activity 6 – TALK NATURALLY
Do you want to know more about the birds that come to Malta? Do you want to learn about their habits and habitats? Would you like to give your students some expert information about local wildlife? Well here’s a really simple activity for you.
BirdLife is offering to send a person to your school to give an illustrated slide talk to your class/es. Do take advantage of this opportunity, and get some easy points too!
Action...
- Phone BirdLife to book a day and a time for the
speaker to come to your school. This talk is suitable for Years 3-6, and
usually takes 30-45min. The audience should not be larger than 40 students.
Larger groups can be divided and the talk will be given twice in a row. The
speaker is a qualified teacher.
- Make sure that you can provide a room which can be
darkened, and a screen (a white bedsheet will do) where the slides can be
projected. Even a blank section of wall will do just as nicely, as long as
it’s a light colour.
- You could use this activity as a preliminary to doing
Activity 5, and get kids to learn something about nature before they visit
Ghadira. That way you will impress the field teacher with how much your pupils
already know about birds and wildlife!
- Make sure to book early as we may not be able to cope with all requests. The service is free of charge, however donations are most welcome. You are especially encouraged to use this activity to get the kids to join BirdLife’s junior club
- Don’t forget the Feedback Form. Photographs are not required for proof of this activity, but we’d love to receive some just the same - we could use them in future publications.
