Activity 10 – JOIN THE CLUB
BirdLife Malta has over 3000 members. Members are our backbone: their support shows the authorities that people want nature protection. At the same time it allows us to change a mentality through the educational material we send our members. A precious part of that membership is our junior section - Klabb Huttaf.
Much time, effort and expense go into maintaining Klabb Huttaf. Part of that effort is getting new members to join the club. In this we depend heavily on teachers who recognise the value of early education, to enrol as many children as possible into our club. With your help our efforts will go much further and the message will spread much wider.
Action...
Find out about Klabb Huttaf from the magazine Il-Huttafa which came with this Action Guide.
- Promote the club with the kids. Here are some suggestions:
- Use the Green Board taking information from
Il-Huttafa
- Show the magazine and explain about the club
- Take the pupils to Ghadira nature reserve (Activity
5) and show them BirdLife in action for birds and nature
- Do Activity 6 and invite a speaker to tell them
about birds and Klabb Huttaf.
- See if you already have Klabb Huttaf members in your class who might want to tell the others about the club.
- Ask interested children to fill in copies of the membership form. Check that details are legible (thanks!), collect subscription money and write out a check (payable to BirdLife Malta) with the forms.
- Put the school stamp on the back of every form (this is important for your points!) and send them in ( plus subscriptions) with the Feedback Forms.
