| My Promise to Jonathan Jonathan, my littlest pride and joy When I first saw you I was glad I had a boy. I hope you take your time to grow up For it wont seem long that youll drink from a cup. I love to hold you because you suckle, But in no time you will learn to tie and buckle. Your little hands and little feet And eyes as blue as the sky, There were many nights while carrying you I would lay and cry. Wondering when you would get here And what you would be, And realizing what you learn And know will be up to me. So young and innocent youre like a piece of clay. I can mold and shape you in any kind of way. As you get older and you learn to walk, Youll learn to do things and learn to talk I want you to learn the right ways to go, When to say Yes and when to say No. Ill always want the best for you and your brother, And Ill try my best to be a good mother I promise. |
