It all started on a fine morning of October 12, 1987 around forty pupils from all over India gathered together on the bank of a beautiful pond called’ kukkarahalli kere’. There was curiosity and excitement in the air. Though all are unknown to each other, there was warmth & smile. Everyone was curious about the mystery of new creatures called ‘Computers’.

There it started the days of unraveling the mystery of Computer world for those forty pupils  … amidst lush green guava trees & with  cool breeze over ‘kukkarahalli kere’

The next two years were filled with fun & occasional serious study days,

dealing with mysterious ‘(un)countable’ discrete objects like

punched cards,’opening files’, PC, Unix, shell, linked lists, pointers,(expression, expression), Cyber, Nelco mini, floppy, hard-disks, digger, pacman, bricks,’compiler belts’,tty, login,CGA Monitors, innumerous (numerical) algorithms and system calls.

Though the’ probability’ of understanding all those was low ( as low as statistics marks)

except understanding each others languages including Pascal, C, LISP and

though  there were up(stair)s & downs(for paratas & tea) & p(r)etty quarrels,

everybody ’pitched’and ‘batted’(in the hostel mess too) & slogged well(in last over),

could come(log)out of Manasagangotri as computer literates (‘literature’ experts)

(using ‘artificial intelligence’ and extrapolating some learnings from teachers like KSGR),

with flying colors and with tender(coconut) feelings

 and high score ‘graphs’& ‘theories’

to serve the nation(and states)!!

It has been a decade and half of ‘graying’  since these pupils came out of University

(The course ended by 12 Oct 1989).

The past memories are as sweet as Mysore pak.  It’s time to ponder over that past  … …
