Come and visit the RatHouse!
We have a very interesting set-up here and we would love to have visitors. Please email if you are in the Kalamazoo area and would like to see this area's biggest rat attraction! No obligation to buy any rats, of course.
Its been a long while since my last update, and, with the relatively short lifespan of ratties, many of the most "famous" Rathouse rats have passed on, including Tiny Face, Lil' Guy and Floydid, amoung others. However, I'm happy to say that the majority of our rats have died well past two years of age.
CONGRATS to Eekster Skeetster, one of the TWO original RatHouse ratties, after Cameron herself. He is three years old! Skeekter is a neutered boy rat that EVERYONE loves! He lived with the boys sometimes, and with the girls other times--in total, he has probably met over 60 rats, and groomed about that many. His favorite things include: grooming other rats, baby rats, and nesting.
Though he is feeble and partially paralyzed, he still is a very happy rat, who still grooms his buddies and loves to eat.
Congrats to CRH Pumpernickle (daughter of Lil' Guy) , who just gave birth to five husky and marked babies, four with perfectly symetrical blazes. Pumpernickle has been a very agreeable mom, so her babies have been handled from day one.
Congrats to "Neutical" for becoming a full member of the community. Neutical used to be someone else's pet, and he was quite shocked to be thrust into such a lively rat enviroment. Much different from a quiet cage with your brother. He's finally overcome his shyness and comes out with everyone else.
We have enough rats from different backgrounds here that all our litters will be outcrossed. We're building a strong and varied foundation from nearby ratteries, with occasional infusions from exceptional "found" rats. (i.e. rats of lesser known backgrounds)
