When I inherited the Wake-Up Riley from my folks, I also inherited a stern rail for it.  It was just sitting in the garage, all wrapped up in brown shipping paper.  So I unwrapped it, and didn't find any instructions or fasteners.  Since the company they purchased it from had since gone under, I was not able to contact them for help.  So I shelved it for a bit.  This is what it looks like:
Last June (2005) I decided I would put it on so we could sail a bit easier with our two young boys.  I had previously bought toggle bolts at West Marine because I couldn't figure out any way to hold a nut on the underside of the coamings.  They were expensive and three of them fell apart as I was trying to bolt them on.  I noticed when I looked in the stern storage locker that the bottoms of those bolts were laying there.  Then I realized you could access the underside of the coamings from inside that locker!  Well, I felt really stupid then.  As I was launching the boat the next day, I just bought some corks and siliconed them into the bolt holes to keep things dry.  However, the last time I was at the boat I realized I would need some really tiny person to be able to reach under the engine well and up to the coaming on the port side.  Besides, I wanted to patch up the old holes and re-drill them because those stupid toggle bolts needed a 1/2" hole.  I ended up cutting a 4" hole and installing a hatch cover so I could reach those bolts more easily.  Who knows, maybe I'll put some sort of secret compartment in there or something.
