More about me....
In regards to design, my strongest area is creatively solving technical problems in a simple manner. This is often done by using drawing as a design tool. Sometimes, a more complex method is required to solve a problem, but this has both benefits and downfalls.

Research and development is another strong area, which I really enjoy. I have a very good mathematical and physics background, so analysing data and designing experiments is something I am familiar with.

I am also familiar with various 2D and 3D CAD suites, and can learn new software very quickly if needed. Hand drawing, rendering and visual presentation is an area I am quite competent in, but still need further improvement. Project management is an area I have some experience in, but would like to learn more.

I have had a lot of experiece installing entertainment systems (displays, amplifiers, speakers etc.) in cars and boats and I am very confident in this area. I can provide advice, design and install a full system, keeping to the client's budget, whatever it may be. I have also done a lot of hands-on work on cars and general handy-work.
My full name is Dmitri Ivanov, and I was born in Moscow, Russia, in 1984. I lived mostly in Moscow for 11 years, spending my summers in Krimea on the Black sea, in a little town called Yevpatoriya.

In 1995, me and my family came to New Zealand to live, and I have lived here since. We live on the North Shore of Auckland.

I attended the prestigeous Rangitoto College for 4 years. Having gained excellent marks, I was given direct entrance into university without having to complete the final year. I decided to go away on exchange for one year, and in 2001, I spent 10 months mostly in a town called Wakayama in Japan, attending the Wakayama Technical High School.

Upon my return to New Zealand in 2002, I joined Massey University, which is conveniently close to my house. I studied engineering and physics for one semester, getting A+s for both subjects. During that year, I also studied Japanese and statistics, getting an overall A- average.

In 2003, I started the Transport Design degree, also at Massey University, specialising in Marine design. I am currently in my final year of this degree, with half a year still left. I am aiming for first class honours which requires a minimum A- average, which I currently hold.

In regards to employment, I have had various jobs within the marine industry. I have spent the summer of 2005 installing entertainment equipment on two superyachts, "Spirit 33" and "Noble house", which was very educational in terms of systems and yacht construction.

In early 2005, I was involved in a small design project with
"Craig Loomes Design Group" on an offshore racing boat, which was unfortunately never completed due to the client pulling out.

I later worked with Ken Olsen and Wayne Smith of "Complete composites" for around one month. Also, I was also lucky enough to attend the
"Yacht Vision 05" design symposium, held in Auckland during the Auckland Boat Show, thanks to "Craig Loomes Design Group" and High Modulus. It was a great opportunity to meet some very prominent people in the global superyacht design and construction industry

Later on in 2005, I became a volunteer for the
"Earthrace" project. First part involved the interior cockpit and dash design In collaboration with Alain Brideson, and I also installed the full entertainment and video system later on in 2006.

     In 2006, after attending the
HPYD2 conference in Auckland, I spent around three weeks travelling through France, Spain and Italy. In that time, I visited two trade shows, two conferences, three universities and two companies - all in 19 days!

In June 2006, I was in charge of organising a three day exhibition called the "
private viewing" for the concept06 line of events. The exhibition consisted of 42 exhibits, and around 400 people turned up for the opening night function.

     Currently, I am working for
"Craig Loomes Design Group Ltd" on a design of a 150 pax passenger ferry, which also happens to be my final year university project. The project is funded by the Technology NZ "TIF" scheme.

     Thank you.
