 Sri Lanka is a land of religious freedom and to tolerance. Wherever you will come across a Buddhist temple or dagaba, a Hindu kovil, a Christian church or a mosque, each with its own distinctive architecture. When visiting holy places conform to the requirements as regards dress in order not to show disrespect.

 

 

 

 

 

By far the majority of Sri Lankan are Buddhists and you will find manifestations of this faith throughout the island in the form of Buddha status, monuments, sculptures, stupas, etc. Introduced into the country over 2,200 years ago.
