Sanctified
I thought I'd take a walk between the stars of Pisces. Maybe dance with Fred and Ginger. But, Christ! Its just me! I must've slipped on darkness. I don't know. Maybe a celestial joke. It doesn't matter anyway. I'm there, so here I go . . . Free falling through Heaven. Toss me lucky number seven. Breaking easily through grace, the voices of the angels in song ceased just long enough to shriek at my demise. Sweat on the brow of a saint? Hardly. They laughed incessantly as I plummeted, inevitably, to the pits of Hell. Grasping for love and only feeling nothingness, I choked on the smoke where Heavenly breeze once lingered. Rotting, burning flesh beneath me. Screams of anguish rise to meet my ears. This is it. Eternity. Then you -- with one out-reached hand -- caught me and let me dance again. |
