There were several legendary outlaws of the nineteen twenties and thirties. Outlaws who would be remembered throughout history in the journals of crime. But these depression day criminals were different by the standards of todays law breakers. Many of the bankrobbers of the early years wore three piece suits and were professionals in their trade. Today's bank robbers are usually  poorly dressed robbers looking for some fast cash to support drug habits, or escape poverty and are sometimes willing to take a life in the process.
John Dillinger, and legendary outlaws of the nineteen twenties and thirties.
Daring and dangerous men of the times.

A rare Picture of Dillinger in route to the Lake County Crown Point jail and the history that follows.  Courtesy of Bill Hanson
Another rare picture, Harry Pierpont  after his capture in Tucson, Arizona. He was one a one-way ride to the electric chair
Kate "Ma" Barker and her son Freddy shot to death in Lake Weir, Florida by federal agents in 1935.
Doc Barker out lived Ma and Freddy, but was later killed while trying to escape Alcatraz  federal prison.
Above: Alvin Karpis, he survived the Barker gang era and spent 33 years behind bars.
Extra: It is interesting to note that St. Paul gangster Eddie Green had connections with both the Barker-Karpis gang and the Dillinger gang. Green was shot in the back by federal Agents on April 3, 1934 and died eight days later. Also Alvin Karpis' only son Raymond died on October 11, 2001 in Chicago. He had never received any money from his father's robberies.
Song: The Boys are back in Town
