COMMENTS on ISSUE FIVE
Share your thoughts too! Here are comments on the comic before the guestbook got up and running. Evidently, I like the idea they're kinda like letters to a published comic, so here they are for all to read (with my replies when appropriate.)

Hello Tobie, am reading Diliman#5. oh bleh, relationship friend stuff. Who died? I'm sorry but I probably missed something... Okay, stopping now and just commenting after I've read the whole thing. Starting now... okay, am interrupting myself just to say... panel repeatings? interrupting again... tikbalang pic! uh, the 'having sex' dialogue seemed weird to me. Also the angry attack scene. But who am I to talk. Okay, I see a Sam. Why all the gay characters
really. Sorry, but I dunno. It doesn't seem like it's needed. Of course, you could say they're just bisexual and stuff. Heheh, I see a Carl. So it's Dyan. And they don't know he's responsible for it. Okay, that's pretty okay.
... Okay, I like the storytelling device this time around. Bambi was talking. For some reason though, she sounded generic in her narration. Small bits of her personality didn't surface so much for me. Unless
she's really like that. I had to reread parts of #4 again to check. So Gabe really died. Even with the 'tabi tabi po' charm thingy. With all the near misses, fake character deaths and suspense moments with surprise stuff in comics and movies, I assumed he'd make it through. So
he's really dead no? Ooookay. Now what's going to happen to the comic since he's the 'main' character? Oh well, he's coming back anyway.
BTW, how long does it take to arrange the wake? I guess it's been 5 days since Gabe was killed? Was he torn to pieces or what? Just wondering how long it would take to get him presentable (sorry, influenced by watching Six Feet Under on HBO). During that time
though, I would think the 'evil forces' would have attacked the other two already. Again, nice storytelling and build up with the narration and final page. Story now has a purpose because they have to 'avenge' and figure out the mystery. That's cool. I can't imagine how many issues the comic will be if the pace goes on like this but I hope there's a definate end. Next time then! K!

Okie dokie, here's my replies: bleh to relationship friend stuff? who died? oh, I didn't realise that the fourth issue didn't finalise it. As to all the gay characters, well, frankly its more because many of the characters Gabe associates with are gay. I don't see people complaining about Will and Grace having gay guest characters. Why should it be different here. Oh, all names are 'coincidental' unless intended to be 'hey check it out, you're mentioned in the book but no, its not meant to represent you' kind of thing. Bambi was narrating through the issue as a storytelling device, but as to why she sounded so.. detached and generic, maybe the next issue will reveal it. After all, most of issue five are actually flashbacks of what she was thinking about. A wake can be arranged within the same evening a person dies, but normally it happens by the next early morning because the police needs time to investigate. Here, Gabe wasn't 'torn to pieces or what'. But I rather save that for the coming issues, heh. Glad to know you find the book okay so far. There will be a definite end, and I hope I find both the inspiration and the support to sustain the book and get to it, but we'll wait and see.Again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for constantly giving feedback and reading my stuff!
