Indian Prayer
By Chief Yellow Hawk
Oh Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind,

And whose Breath gives life to all the world, hear my prayer. ....

Let me walk in Beauty, through all my days, make my eyes see

Sunrise freshness.....and sunset glory

Make my hands respect the things You have made

And my ear sharp to hear Your many voices

I am small and weak

I need Your strength and wisdom

Make me wise that I might learn the lessons You teach my people.

The lessons You have hidden in every leaf and rock......

I seek strength , not to be superior to my brother,

But to fight the greatest enemy ~ Myself.

Oh Great Spirit , Hear me , make me ready

So when life fades to a last sunset

My spirit will come to You without shame.
Peace comes within the souls of men,
when they realize their oneness with the universe,
when they realize it is really everywhere...
it is within each one of us.

To make a wish come true, whisper it to a butterfly. Upon these wings it will be taken to heaven and granted for they are messengers of The Great Spirit.
Native American Quotes
....I am poor and naked but I am the chief of a nation. We do not want riches but we do want to train our children right. Riches would do us no good. We could not take them with us to the other world. We do not want riches . We want peace and love

When it comes tme to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

                                                Cheif Aupumut, Mohican. 1725

What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.

                                                 Crowfoot, Blackfoot warrior and orator
A Cherokee Blessing
May the warm winds of Heaven blow softly on your home,
And the Great Spirit bless all who enter there.
May your mocassins make happy tracks in many snows,
And may the rainbow always touch your shoulders.
