How to get your foot in the door:

Getting into pharmacy is no cake walk, as most anybody knows, admission is limited to about 130 students (that number tends to come down with flunk-outs...). What this means is grades are pretty much the key.

Candidates are grouped according to where they come from:

Contrary to what people think, IT IS EASIER TO GET ACCEPTED IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A BACHELOR DEGREE (even one in philosophy...). The reason is... fewer applicants! But Cegep students shouldn't feel disheartened. Most of the applicants are looking for entry into the high pressure worlds of either Medicine or Dentistry, so they usually put down Pharmacy as an alternate choice, leaving the lesser candidates on the dreaded waiting list... But once the Med and Dental students get off the list, you'll see your status sky-rocket. Trust me on that one...

For the socially inept crowd out there, fear not, there is no interview session (although there should definitely be one...) and no entrance exam either. So the sole criteria for admittance is grades. Looks should matter too, cuz there sure were a lotta ugly people in my class, but I digress...

"My grades suck, can I still get in?"

There is currently a massive shortage of pharmacists in Quebec (as well as everywhere else in North America). Expect the number of available places to increase (I hear to about 160 for the coming year!), so even some pretty average students might get a chance to prove themselves. It can't hurt to apply...
