Do You Really Care About Your RXS This Much?
Frame
the first part is real simple just strip the whole bike down to nothing see?quite easy years of corrosion and neglect will
have made it very easy to undo all those bolts all i can recommend at this stage is to get it to a man with a jig let him
straighten it cos it will be bent you can bend the frame and write off the bike in accidents so slow you will not notice you
had an accident.
Now then you must scrape off the paint where you are going to weld sholud be easy it'll have flaked off already anyway. we
will start by the head stock first only two small bits here to weld but you could also just add a plate of metal here to
strentghen the whole lot
but it dosen't really need that the limiting part is down by the rear if you look at the box that holds things like your
swing'in arm to the frame you'll find that the welds are not complete at ALL!. Using some scrap metal make up some thing to
cover over these holes so that you can weld them on
Swing'in arm
good luck!
i didn't do this yet but if you do it make sure the chain run is clear and you dont hit
the exhaust or the side stand(what do you mean the 'what about the center stand?'
get rid of it!!)i would put the bracing under the swing'in arm over it is alright for modern
single shockers but not for our twin shocker
Rear sets and drop bars
the rear sets are made from rg80 sets, if you look at the right hand side of your bike
you will notice the exhaust hanger , you want to make the right hand rear set just like this
and bolt it on via the swingin arm bolt you need to remove the dust cap cum washer that is
covering the bush's don't worry about this though i leave mine out in the rain everynite
and the bush seem to be living with it fine (even though they needed replacing even since i
had the bike).you will need to drill a large hole in the side of the rear set and cut off the
rg mounting holes. then on the inside of the plate you need to weld a tube on in the same
position as the exhaust hanger. For the left hand side it's the same again the frame needs a hole
drilled init (don't actually remember doin that huh)then i put two nuts on the end of the bolt to
secure it in place. The gear change is simple, cut up the original and weld on a piece this leaves it
with no linkages which is great but it also reverses the patern this is a problem when you jump onto
another bike start off in second then change into first and blow then engine. But i prefer it this
way and anyother bike i have is also modded this way two (some bikes all you have to do is bolt
it on differntly)and it's a great excuse when your friends wants a go on your pride and joy
Front ends
i know of three front ends that bolt on and provide better brakes and suspension
- Rg 80
- Rxz 135 and Rxs 115
- CB 400 n
the Rg 80 front end is the one i have installed on my bike, with a 3.00 * 16(king's cross) front tire
and a 2.75 * 18(vee rubber) rear the handleing was very very good little slow to steer on the
handle bars, both tires were prtty grippy the king's cross totally suprised me but unfortunatly as it
wore the grip got really bad during any moist session so i changed it for a michelin A38 and the rear
got a michelin M45 (3.00 * 18)

This is a standard rxs, note: very dangerous.
Atacking a corner with an rg80 front end required hard braking
followed by 30% of the corner pushing the front by braking
and turning then the rest of the corner can be taken with
the throtle hard against the stop to get the best out of it.
Of course this is all with the most important piceses of rxs
modifing in place the drop bars and rear sets
Next on the list is the Rxs 115 and Rx135z the front ends are basically the same newer models have
a few slots or holes cut into them this is a good front end if you want a 18 inch front rim. 16 inch
ain't so hot sometimes in the rain but i can live with it in exchange for floatie lite :) steering
awesome brakes and feedback.
For more info (and i know you want it)
just click on the rxz.
Now i realised that this front end may be hard to find (unless its can be found on some other yamaha)
so this brings us to the cb400n twin disc front end. I don't know shit a bout this front end i read a
bout it in
umg look for it under dispatches. I think that this may be a
bad idea oversprung and heavy you'd regret it (maybe).
