Wow, I finally found things to rant about! And here's one of them: Anti-Chris people. Meh.
I know I always refer to things in real life in this rant and it would seem like i'm making a big deal out of this, but I -REALLY- need to get this out, okay? Okayyy.
I suppose you should know, I am a pretty huge fangirl of Chrisu-kun. <333 He's so nice and sweet, and such a little cutie. Especially in the japanese version! ... No comment about the english dub. ANYWAY, I like him a lot. I'm not going to deny the fact that there were -many- times in the series that I wished I could just hug him~ ^_^ And my liking for Chris caught on there right from the beginning. So for me I thought, "Aww, he's so cute, he's gonna be a character that EVERYBODY will love!"
... Er. Wrong.
As someone who goes to many, many Sonic X boards and shrines and fansites, I have noticed that you will VERY rarely find someone who doesn't wish death upon the character of Chris. This made me a very confused and sad little Chi. I found nothing wrong with him! At all! Sure he likes to hang around Sonic a lot and acts a bit... clingy around him. Not only do I think that's horribly cute, but the people who complain about that are huge die-hard Sonic fans as well. They should think for a moment: What would THEY do if they suddenly met the blue blur in real life? Wouldn't they have Chris's attitude, as well?
Let's go over a few things that people hate about him, okay? Okay.
1. He's incredibly clingy. He's always around Sonic.
Like I said above, wouldn't you go and do the same if you met Sonic in real life? I'm sure Chris just hangs around him constantly because he probably thinks Sonic is pretty cool, like anyone else would. But that's only at the start. If you would actually look INTO his character instead of skipping all over it because you hate him with such a burning passion WHICH I DON'T KNOW THE HELL WHY, I think you'll see that Chris is alone most of the time. He claims that he's never had many true friends, his parents are gone about 90% of the time, and the only people that are there for him are his maid, butler, and his grandfather. And aren't they busy most of the time as well?
He likes Sonic and his friends because they ARE Chris's friends-- especially Sonic, who's always saved him and comforted him through the series. Chris doesn't want Sonic and friends to leave, because as he said in episode 51-- the next-to-last episode-- He would be alone all over again. And who wants that? Certainly not him. Nobody wants to be alone.
2. He's so useless! He does nothing but try to help and ends up failing most of the time! He's nothing but a waste of screenspace.
... What? You expect Chris to have some magical super powers? Like to suddenly be incredibly strong? Or the super power of flying? Or maybe you're expecting at least some healing powers or something?
WRONG. He's a normal 12-year old kid. He doesn't have powers or anything to help them. The least he can actually do is stay on the side and cheer the rest of the crew on. I'm sure that's what Sonic Team and Naka INTENDED his role to be-- a normal child without any special powers.
3. He's got too much screentime! There isn't enough Shadow! *WHINE BITCH MOAN*
Oh, you're sad for thinking this. Shadow was SUPPOSED to only be in like 3 or 4 episodes. He's not going to be a MAIN character like in the games. Sonic X has adaptions like the games, but it doesn't mean Shadow's not going to be intended to be one of the secondary characters. Chris is one of the main characters. He's part of the PLOT. So is Shadow of course, but only for a few episodes. Most of the time, what Chris (And Sonic and friends, of course) does affects where the main story goes. It's expected that Chris gets more attention that him. Oh no. He got more screentime than your precious black hedgehog of angsty darkness of "OMFG HOTTNESS". Cry me a river. And then go play SA2 and Sonic Heroes and Sonic Battle again. There's plenty of your angsty hedgie addiction in there. *rolls eyes*
And I suppose i'm done with this kinda-short rant. Hm, I thought it was going to be longer. With more cursing.
