1999 Official Show Rules For Lowrider Cars, Trucks, Bicycles and Hydraulics
THESE RULES ARE THE PROPERTY OF GO-LO ENTERTAINMENT AND LOWRIDER PUBLISHING GROUP AND CANNOT BE REPRODUCED WITHOUT THE WRITTEN PERMISSION OF GO-LO ENTERTAINMENT AND LOWRIDER PUBLISHING GROUP.

1999 Lowrider Car Show Regulations
Lowriders, or any vehicle entering an LRM or Go-Lo-sanctioned event, will be judged in five categories:
BODY, ENGINE, INTERIOR, UNDERCARRIAGE AND HYDRAULICS.

Every area will be judged on the extent of each modification. For example, if you are competing for Best Paint award, the finish job would include multi-colors, door jambs, inside hood, etc. All modifications should be clearly visible or stated for evaluation. Included In The Five Categories:

BODY: modifications, paint, murals and striping, molding, glass, accessories and craftsmanship.

ENGINE: plating, engine compartment, firewall, hinges and springs, hoses, wiring, hood panel, engine swap and detail.

UNDERCARRIAGE: plating, paint/striping, modifications, wheels, craftsmanship, cleanliness and detail.

INTERIOR: seats, dash, headliner, side panels, consoles, operable audio and visual or any electric accessory, detail and workmanship. The trunk/bed will also be considered part of the interior category.

HYDRAULIC SUSPENSION: Operable setup, wiring, batteries, plating, tubing, hoses, craftsmanship, detail and cleanliness.

Extra points can also be earned with your display. A good display can enhance the appearance of a show vehicle. It should be designed to protect your vehicle from the crowd. Stanchions and ropes should be positioned as not to block the view of the show vehicle. Flammable material and unsafe lighting cannot be used in the display. Lighting, electrical display enhancements and turntables should be turned off while judging. Steps or path should be provided when using mirrors. No points will be deducted for a judging path purposely left for after-hours judging.

Exhibitor Rules
1. Spaces are issued in lOx2O-foot sizes. If you need additional space, you must be pre-approved by pre-registering by the advertised deadline.

2. All entries must be registered at the show office by starting time. Starting time will be posted at the registration table. The registration number must be placed on the dashboard and visible to the judges, If judging card is not visable, entry will be disqualified, and it is the owner’s responsibility to place the card on the dash completely filled out with the correct name of entry, within 2 hours of registration. No nick-names please, because any checks will be written out to the name on the entry form; a wrong name may delay Sweepstakes payments or cause incorrect information to appear in Lowrider Magazine. The judges will enter your vehicle’s classification.

3. All displays must be completed before the opening of the show to be eligible for any display points. Fire marshal will examine on day before show.

4. Electrical outlets are sometimes sold to exhibitors by the facility, and each display will be limited to 110-volt power only. No heat lamps will be allowed and all wiring must have a grounded three-pronged wire plug.

5. Displays may not be torn down until the start of the trophy presentation. This includes starting engine, moving vehicle or operating hydraulic systems. This safety rule will be enforced to protect the audience and children. Violators will be disqualified and/or possibly banned from all future events.

6. Noise should be kept to a minimum during set-up and tear-down out of respect for fellow exhibitors. Persons “burning rubber,” using profanity or being disrespectful will be banned from future competition.

7. All “For Sale” signs should be incorporated into the display and not on the vehicle. There will be a two (2) point deduction from a vehicle’s total score for an incompleted judging card or for any “For Sale” sign that is on a vehicle and not incorporated into the display.

8. If display is larger than noted on application (lOx2O-feet), the display may be disqualified from judging if prior arrangements were not made.

Classification & Judging
9. If a vehicle is placed in the wrong class, it is the owner’s responsibility to notify the registration table. Questions or clarifications should be presented to the Go-Lo show staff by 3 p.m. on day of show.

10. If a vehicle is late for an event, only proof of a major breakdown will qualify the vehicle for competition and sweepstakes.

11. Entries must be ready to be judged two (2) hours after being assigned a space at the show, or be disqualified. Entries with turntables or exceptionally intricate displays may be given more time in some cases.

12. All entries must be operable, and Sweepstakes winners must have an operable sticker placed on the vehicle. All entries must be able to start under their own power, meaning that an operable battery must be permanently positioned in the vehicle, the engine must be fueled by its own fixed fuel tank and transmission, shifted from the driver’s position. The vehicle will be required to travel 20 feet forward, steering to the left and right, brake to a stop, shift into reverse, travel 20 feet backward steering to the left and right, and brake to a stop. The vehicle owner may be assisted by two crew members limited to starting the vehicle only. No more than two ounces of fuel will be allowed to prime start a vehicle. An electrical battery jump, battery to battery, will be allowed. A time limit of ten (10) minutes will be allowed to begin the first movement of the vehicle. All vehicles are subject to inspection by judging staff. An inoperable vehicle will be for exhibition only. Sweepstakes contenders, if available, will be notified to witness the inspection of the competition. At the Lowrider Super Show, vehicles (sweepstakes vehicles) must drive from a designated location at show to their spot.

13. All judging discrepancies must be settled within one hour after trophy presentation by vehicle owner only. No judging sheet will be changed or revised by anyone except the signing judge. No exhibitor is allowed on stage during or after trophy presentation except Sweepstakes winners.

14. It is recommended that each exhibitor provide the judges with an information sheet or book listing modifications made on vehicle.

15. Judges must have access to undercarriage for viewing purposes. Mirrors will be accepted in this case.

16. All vehicles must comply with fire safety rules set forth, including taping the gas caps, disconnecting the batteries and other facility requirements.

17. Any protest must be placed at the registration table by 3 p.m. on the day of the show. A $500 protest fee must be posted, and if the protested vehicle proves operable, the fee will be awarded to the protested vehicle’s owner.

18. In regard to swapping engines or other automotive parts after the operable inspection, only the distributor cap, brake rotors and brake calipers will be allowed to be changed. No other changes will be allowed and could lead to disqualification by the judging staff.

19. All body parts must be attached to the main body of the vehicle—no props.

20. Vehicles or bikes displayed in vendor booths are not eligible for Sweepstakes.

21. Accessories are factory made or designed parts.

Disputes
Go-Lo Entertainment shall have the sole authority to disqualify any participant, exhibitor, organization or vehicle from any event. Expulsion from Go-Lo events may result from the following: exhibitor fighting, poor sportsmanship and profanity. In addition, burning rubber, throwing trophies, harming other exhibitors’ vehicles or bribery attempts will automatically disqualify a participant for the duration of the season.

The Lowrider categories are based upon the number of minor and/or major modifications made.

CAR/TRUCK DANCING
(Street: up to 4 pumps;
Unlmited: more than 4 pumps)

Winners of Sweepstakes, Best Classic/Bomb, Best Euro, Hopping and Bed-Dancer at a tour event or sanctioned show qualify for their division Vehicle of the Year. A prior tour Sweepstakes placing and a First Place win at the Super Show makes a Vehicle of the Year. This title can be won three consecutive years with the same vehicle without making any major changes, but the vehicle does have to qualify by placing in one sweepstakes during the competition year. However, the fourth year the vehicle cannot compete and upon returning must have four new major changes, and does have to re-qualify.

If the Lowrider of the Year Car, Truck, Euro, Bomb (Truck or Bomb) fails to compete at a Go-Lo show, or one of the following Super Shows after winning the title in sequence, it must have four (4) major changes done and has to re-qualify to be eligible for the Lowrider of the Year title. Past wins will also be counted towards the limit of three. A Lowrider of the Year vehicle cannot compete at a show if an invitation to exhibit has been extended and/or if they are on exhibition. If a one-or two-time Lowrider, Euro, Truck, Bomb Truck or Bomb of the Year loses in competition, it can come back to compete the following year without major changes.
