Be Ready for Digital Television Conversion
Below are a few links of intrest for the digital conversion in June of  2009 along with information gathered from others who have already experienced the process which can be a real headache for those who don't understand what will be happening to their Televisions.............
The first questions everyone is asking,   DO  I  NEED  A  BUY A   NEW  T.V.  ????   No !
If you don't have CABLE,   if you don't have DISH NETWORK,  if you don't have DIRECTV ,  and all you have is just a plain old antenna on the roof top , or a set of rabbit ears on top of the television set,,,,  well  your still in luck........

The Federal Government has set up a website full of questions and answers.   DO NOT PANIC  when you read some of these answers.........   Whatever happens,  you will still get T.V.
with a few minior modifications..........    Click here to  go to the Government Site.
If your antennas are fairly new,,  and can pick up a Digital Signal,,,,,  than all you need is to purchase a cheap digital  box converter which will change your regular T.V. picture into a Digital picture.
You may have to purchase a new roof antenna,   and combined with a converter box,  you will be ready.  These converter boxes can be purchased at your local Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, or other major department store for about $49.95, and with a  free Government Discount Coupon for $40.00  your
actual price will be aproximately
$9.95 plus taxes.
Click on the Coupon  to view more information.
Dish Network , Direc-TV   ,   Cable    and other Subscribers.
To be upfront with everyone,,,,,,,  I  only subscibe to Direc-TV  so those who subscribe to other carriers will have to look up the information from them.  It is my understanding  that  Cable providers already convert their signals,  so i you have it,,,,,, your good to go.

Dish Network customers need to make sure they have fairly new equipment  within the last year or two.  You can Contact Dish Network by clicking on the link below.
Direc-TV customers with the older style round,  single LNB dish shown at the right here,  will need to get a "FREE" upgrade from Direc-TV to a  3  or 5  LNB  oval shaped dish in order to get the local Bangor channels.  These older dishes are good only for  regular digital channels.  Local Bangor  channels work on a different frequency and need the newer syle dishes..
Direc-TV will provide one new dish, and one receiver which will pick up your LOCAL  television stations.  This receiver will need to receive a t.v. signal called MPEG-4.     Although it is called an HD reciever,  you can,  but you do not need  to subscribe to HD programming to recieve local channels. Additional recievers will cost $49.95 and up depending on what you want.  "They will replace 1 additional defective receiver for the price of shipping & handling.  Aprox. $19.95"
Digital Signals will be here in JUNE 2009.   There will be millions of customers trying to get upgrades at the same time.........  Companies will be swamped ..... It's a good idea to get ahead of the rush of calls and get your upgrade NOW before you are the one on the WAITING LIST. !!
