Authors Note: This is my first NSYNC AU and it’s set in high
school. It’s weird for me to write the guys as seventeen and eighteen year olds
especially while trying to keep them true to character. So, if I’m a little
rough about it that’s why. I tend to build stories up slowly. It bugs me when
things happen right away with no development. I have to admit that the first
three chapters are really just an intro but it will pick up after that. Thanks
for reading and as always your comments are appreciated.
Disclaimer: I don’t own *NSYNC or anyone of the celebrities I
mention in this story. This an AU so how likely is it? Don’t sue, man.

And so, it begins...
He was the new kid in town not that it bothered him. Nothing
really did. Ok, the move had bothered him a little at first. He hadn’t been
happy at the thought of leaving Memphis; actually, he’d been furious. Memphis
was where he belonged, where his life was and they wanted him to start anew,
start fresh in a place that wasn‘t home. And the cruelest part of the
whole thing was that they had yanked him out of school just after he’d found
out that he’d made captain for the basketball team.
However, when it was clear that no moodiness, tantrums or
general bullying would change their minds, he’d resigned himself to the idea of
it. Hell, when you were a seventeen year old kid living rent free with your
parents, well, you didn’t really have much choice in the matter. One of the
only positive things about moving was that the school he was going to had one
of the best basketball teams in the city. The new car his Step Dad had bestowed
on him hadn’t hurt at all either.
His first day of school was in a matter of days and he had
to admit that although he‘d been fighting the move and everything that went
along with it, he did feel a sharp sense of anticipation. He knew this probably
wasn’t the most normal sentiment. He knew how these things were supposed to
work. He was the new kid at school. So, he was supposed to be nervous, scared
and a little shy. The popular kids would bully him and he'd make friends with a
group of obscure characters that no one understood. And he’d spend the rest of
his high school life as a pariah.
That scenario, however, wasn’t for him. Fitting in was
simple; had always been simple. When you were as talented as he was on the
court and off it, well people tended to gravitate towards you.
All he’d have to do was make an appearance, smile and
everyone would fall eagerly into his lap.
They always did.
