The Pazuzu-Humwawa-Asmodeus Connection

PAZUZU    pa=river    zu=wisdom, to know

HUMWAWA  lord of the forest, death/decay

The Sigil Of Asmoday(Asmodeus)

Now, this is an interesting one.... its similarities to the seal of PAZUZU in the Necronomicon are uncanny... almost as if it were combined with the seal of HUMWAWA with some fancy touches put to it. Asmodeus is often used in rituals involving Lust. Now, the combination between Lust, Disease, Decay, and Death equals out to the modern plague, the AIDS virus. TheSimonomicon refers to Humwawa as the god of decay, but actual Sumerian mythology has him as the gaurdian of the cedar tree...not any cedar but an important one to the myths.
The name, Asmodeus, comes from the (hebrew, maybe?) name Asmoday. Collin De Plancy's Dictionaire Infernale lists Asmodeus as the destroyer. Francis Barrett's The Magus calls him the Prince of Vengeance. Johan Weyer's Hierarchy of Hell says he's the lord of gambling (now theres an odd one). Sebastien Michaelis's Histoire admirable de la Possession et conversion d'une penitente(wow) puts him in power of luxury, quite the change. Peter Binsfeld's Demons of the Seven Deadly Sins speaks of him as being in control of the sin of lechery. With all of these attributes in mind, he does bear resemblenses to Pazuzu and Humwawa, beyond just the sigilic similarities, which are hard to deny short of claiming coincedence. It makes me wonder where Peter Levenda got the seal of Pazuzu from the Necronomicon. Maybe he did uncover an ancient text... which he possibly used somewhat basis for certain parts of his "Simonomicon". I have heard talks of an actual text in a London museum resembling the myths of the Necronomicon, though these are highly unfounded.
