Hello it’s me lemonaddict,
back to bother you with another fic. My friend Pikachu has been having some
trouble so I gave her some time off to... Must not say... That wouldn’t be
polite, besides, if I tell you when she’s here, she’ll really be annoyed. And embarrassed.
DISCLAIMER: I do not
own in any little way Digimon, because there’s no YAOI, so it’s obvious it
ain’t
mine, right? So don’t sue,
don’t flame. XP
“Tai’s late. What a surprise! I think I’m gonna have a heart
attack and die of not surprised!” said sarcastically Matt.
“Hey there he comes!” yelled out Matt’s lil’ bro, TK, who was
hanging onto Kari’s arm. Sure enough, Tai was running up.
“I’m late. I know. I’m sorry.” said Tai.
They all walked to the train station. They were off to the beach
for the day. It was ten to seven. Tai looked asleep on his legs. Hopefully,
they got on the train without mishap. The younger Digidestined and Tai fell
asleep on the train.
They arrived round seven thirty. Tai almost missed the station,
but Matt noticed he was not there and ran back in the train to get him out.
They settled down on the beach. Tai and Joe pounced on Matt, picked him up,
carried him over to the sea, despite Matt’s protestations, and making sure he
didn’t touch the cold water, dumped in the freezing cold sea. Matt caught up
with Joe and shoved seaweed and damp sand down his swim trunks. He then tried
to catch up with Tai, but never managed. He gave up after a minute or so and
went to lay down on his towel. Tai came back but kept his distances from Matt.
TK and Kari were looking for shells and stones. Ken, Davis, Yolei and Cody were
playing beach volley. Sora and Mimi were sunbathing. Joe and Izzy were talking
about something scientific. Matt suddenly got up and caught Tai off guard and
dragged him off. All the others paused what they were doing to see what Matt
was going to do to Tai. Matt let Tai go, bent down, picked up a handful of sand
and threw it at Tai. It turned into a big wet sand fight. Matt shoved Tai over.
By then, they were both dry and warm. The coming up wave froze Tai. Tai pounced
on Matt pulling him down into the next wave. They looked up at the others to
see them in hysterics. They looked at themselves and burst out laughing.
Unfortunately for them, an enormous wave crept up on them, drowning them. Tai
came up sputtering and pulled Matt out. They walked out of the sea up to their
towels and collapsed down on them. The morning went past quickly.
Slightly before midday, they played two against two volley ball
matches. The winners were to go and get lunch. Matt and Tai won. They collected
the orders and the money and set off for some decent take out place. They
finally ended up in a not too crowded place. Not too crowded meaning, no one
was out on the streets yet. They were silent for awhile, then Tai spoke up.
“Matt?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m sorry… bout this morning. I should’ve waited a little before
dumping you in.”
“S’ok. We’re supposed to have fun today. We’ve had ours.”
“I didn’t hurt you, did I?”
“Why you asking that?”
“Those bruises…” he sounded concerned.
“Oh! Those… Not you… Long story. I’ll tell you some other time. Maybe.” He added the maybe with a sly grin.
“Whaddya mean maybe? Matt, I’m your friend. Best friend. No maybes with me.”
An uncomfortable silence fell. Tai turned away, sometimes glancing at his friend, before looking away. Finally, it was their turn to order. Matt did the ordering. The cashier wouldn’t take her eyes off him. Tai felt something deep inside that felt strangely like jealousy. As soon as he felt it, he repressed that emotion. They put the names on the packs, put them in bags and slowly walked back to the beach. They found the group easily. They got complained at for being so long. They didn’t say anything, but smiled.
They ate their lunch between fits of laughter caused by Matt and Tai. First Matt took out the bottle of water he had had since this morning and dumped on Tai’s head when he wouldn’t stop tickling him. Then Matt’s burger decided to leg it. The sauce anyway. Of course, it landed on Tai’s bare chest. Then Davis said something stupid that made Matt burst out laughing. Nothing tragic there, except that he was drinking water at the time and facing Tai. Then Matt decided to steal Tai’s fries and ended up spilling the open bottle of water on Tai. At the end of the meal, Tai went to clean up, and the whole group went off to find an ice cream place. Cody had a plain chocolate. Davis, Ken and Yolei had two scoops of plain vanilla. TK and Kari had a strawberry ice cream. Sora went for plain mango. Mimi had strawberry ‘coz it was pink and matched her bathing suit. Joe and Izzy had coffee flavor (which, miraculously, Joe wasn’t allergic to!!!!). Matt had chocolate, pistachio and vanilla and Tai had chocolate and mango. They then walked over to some rocks. They sat there, talking about all and nothing. The girls then said they wanted to go off shopping. The guys, except for Matt and Tai, accompanied them.
Matt and Tai sat silently. Tai found himself staring at Matt.
“So… Matt, you ok? You’re being awful quiet today.”
“Uh… yeah. I’m just… really preoccupied.”
“Bout what?”
“Nothing, really.”
“Matt. If you’re this quiet, it can’t be nothing. I’m here if you need to talk, huh?”
“I know. It’s to do with me and my father. And I’d rather not talk about it.”
“Matt. I’m gonna follow you until I find out. And I *will*.”
“Tai, please. Don’t.”
The rest of the gang chose that moment to reappear. They all walked back down to the beach. As it was already three PM, the beach was crowded, and it was hell to find a spot close to the water. They finally found one and they all went for a swim. Davis swam out, and Matt and Tai had a race to get to Davis and back. They were identical. Mimi at first refused to go in. Matt and Tai picked her up and gently dumped her in the water. The water had slightly warmed up since, so Mimi didn’t freeze. At the strike of five, they all got up and started drying up. At six, they went into town, got a light snack, and headed for the train station. They almost missed the train but got on just on time.
