He heard of Harry Potter: the movie from a friend after he finished with David Copperfield. He didn't want to at first, but then he did. He tried out. After the first audition he came out feeling like he messed up alot but then after the second one he felt he did alot better.

He prepared for the movie by reading the books: "Because J.K Rowling and (screenwriter) Steve Kloves portray Harry so well and bring out his charcter, it's quite easy to get into his mind."

Dan on how he found out he got the part: "I was in the bath, and my dad came in and said they wanted me to play Harry Potter and I just cried. It was so cool. It was amazing."

Dan on how he is dealing with the prospect of fame: "Well, I'm just going to take it as it comes and see what happens," he says. "I think it will just be fun." "I do want to be famous," but "I also want to lead a normal life in the respect that I still want to see my friends and still will have to do my schoolwork and stuff like that."

Dan on how his parents felt: "They were never really reluctant. I've auditioned for things before - David Copperfield and The Tailor Of Panama - and I always got my hopes up pretty high. They didn't want me to be hurt," he says "They knew that there were thousands of boys auditioning and that it was pretty unlikely that I would get the part. They didn't wan't me to get my hopes up and then be really upset about it."

Dan on a normal life: "I have such a normal life. Apart from the fact that I'm on the set, I see my friends regularly. I do the same schoolwork they do and when I'm on the set everybody helps me to remain normal. Outside the set I lead a totally normal life. So it's been pretty easy. And I rarely get recognized."

Dan on magical powers he would want to have: "I'd choose invisibility because it would be so cool just to be able to go anywhere and not gave anyone know."

Dan on a magical creature he would want to own: Fluffy around for protection: "because then nobody would try to find me!"

Dan on the premiere: "I'm overwhelmed right now, but I'm really enjoying it!"

Dan on books: "The Cirque Du Freak books by Darren Shan are quite cool. They're about a world on a disk that's shaped like a planet."

Dan on his favourite scene or set for Harry Potter 1: "Probably the Final Chambet. It's really huge and intense. And it's very frightening." "The Chess scene, where there are giant chess pieces. And Devil's Snare - the set was so cool, and it had great special effects."

Dan on stunts: "I did most of the stunts myself, I'm proud to say." Dan's stunts included falling on concrete (don't worry it was padded) and hanging 22 feet in the air on a broomstick with one hand during the Quidditch scene.

Dan on memorizing lines for David Copperfield: "After I read the script about 3 times, it sinks into my head."

Dan on memorizing lines for Harry Potter: "With Harry Potter, it took about 6 times because it was a lot bigger."

Dan on people calling him "Harry": "It would be cool if they did! I like the name."

Dan on his favourite Harry Potter book: "The second one. It's really dark, and there are a bunch of other story lines."

Dan on his favourite word from the books: I like the word - it's very bad to say this - but I like the word Voldemort. I like the way it sounds in your mouth. But I really shouldn't say that!"

DAn on his favourite character(s) from the books: "I think the Weasley family us grear. In the first book, though, it would probably be Hagrid."

Dan on his favourite school subjects: "I like science and i love gym. Oh and I like art but I'm really bad at it. I'm just a terrible drawer."
