A group met at Denny's Restaurant in November 2001 to form the Mineral County Genealogical Society.
The group meets the second Monday night of each month at 6:00 at the Jane United Methodist Church unless we are going somewhere else in the county. We have a speaker at each meeting that shares history of the county or families of the county with us.
Membership is $15.00 a year and that includes a newsletter that is published 4 times a year. The newsletter is usually 10 to 18 pages long.
The MCGS have also recently published " Rural Cemeteries of Mineral and Grant Counties, West Virginia Voulume I" The cost of the book is $25.00 plus $4.00 for postage and handling. The book has 48 Mineral County Cemeteries and 45 Grant County Cemeteries listed.
Work has begun on Volume II. If you have any cemeteries that you would like to see in the next volume, please send them to us or email them to me.
