Jimmy Lee Seiber, 63, of Clinton, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Born Dec. 19, 1939, in Devonia, he was the son of Walter and Juanita Phillips
Seiber, both now deceased. Mr. Seiber was a lifelong resident of the area. He
was a retired carpenter and a Baptist. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by his wife, Alice Seiber; a grandson, Lawrence Seiber Jr.;
and by a sister, Cathy Odessa Freels. Mr. Seiber is survived by his daughter,
Tina Vanee Sammons and husband, Terry, of Sunbright; four sons, Elder Jimmy
Ray Seiber and wife, Theresa, of Knoxville, Lawrence Seiber and wife, Rhonda,
of Clinton, and LeRoy Seiber and wife, Tammy, and Franklin John Seiber, all of
Oliver Springs; and by 12 grandchildren, Jimmy Dewayne Seiber, Jason Harold
Seiber, Carrie Seiber, Christopher Ferguson, Codie Allen Seiber, Ashley Grace
Seiber, Alex Lawrence Seiber, Dylan Troy Lee Seiber, Kyler Seiber, Paula
Odessa Sammons, Sean Drake Sammons and Kevin Jett.He is also survived by a
sister, Wanda Fritts and husband, Oscar, of Oliver Springs; and by six
brothers, Freddie Joe Seiber and wife, Barbara, the Rev. Steve Seiber and
wife, Susie, Dale Seiber and wife, Cathy, Walter Jay Seiber and wife,
Bridgette, and Benny Seiber and wife, Kathy, all of Oliver Springs, and
Mitchell Seiber of Harriman. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21,
2003, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with Roger Buck
and Chester Keathley, both elders, officiating. Burial will follow at the
Seiber Family Cemetery. the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m.

Devonia Native Buried, Seiber Was Coal Miner. Funeral services for Mitchell
Seiber,74,were held Saturday afternoon at the Free Communion Church and
burial was in the Seiber family cemetery at Devonia. The Rev. Dana Ward and
the Rev. Edwin Phillips officiated. Seiber,a retired coal miner who lived
nearly all of his life at Devonia, died last, Wednesday in Oak Ridge
Hospital. Recently he had lived at Bricevillle Rt.1.
He leaves six daughters, Mrs. Nancy Kennedy of Petros, Mrs. Margaret
Byrge of Caryville Rt.1.Mrs.Loren Ward of Royal Blue. and Brenda Lee,
Edith,and Geraldine Seiber all of home. seven sons, the Rev. Odis Seiber of
Penninghon Gap, Va. the Rev. Pitney Mitchell Seiber of Lafollette, Donnie of
Maryland, Austin of Devonia, Joel, Raymond and Mitchell Jr. at home.

Mollie Seeber died Sept.16.She was the wife of C. L. Seeber, of Clinton
Rt.2,and is also survived by eight children: Mrs. Luster Robbins,
Lafollette, Mrs. Annie Carr, Mrs. Ernest Wells, Mrs. Kelly Byrge, Mrs. Ike
Bunch, all of Clinton, Hershel Seeber, CM 3/c in the Pacific, Ethel Seeber,
Norfolk, Va. and Charlie Seeber, of Devonia,29 grandchildren, and three
great-grandchildren, two brothers, Adam Bunch, Clinton, and Leppie Bunch, of
Knoxville. Funeral services were held at Shiloh Baptist Church at Devonia
with the Rev. Mike Byrge

Mrs. Seiber Of Lake City Dies At 77
A member of the West Side Baptist Church, Mrs. Ruth Ann Seiber,77,of South
Main St. Lake City, died Monday at St. Mary's North Hospital. Mrs. Seiber
enjoyed flower gardening when she was younger. She and her husband,
William Seiber, who died 39 years ago, were native of the Devonia area.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Odell Nichols of Knoxville, Mrs.
Willie Stevenson of Clinton, Miss Allie Seiber and Mrs. Lou Nelson both of
Lake City, three sons, Ples Seiber of Dalton, Ga., George Seiber and
Junior Seiber, both of Lake City,31 grandchildren,17 great-grandchildren,
brother, John Bray of Lake City, sister, Mrs. Mary Lou West of Akron,
Ohio. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the West Side Baptist Church
with the Rev. B. Ray Phillips officiating. Burial was in Circle Cemetery

Woman, 93, Dies At Lake City
A former laundry worker in Oak Ridge, Mrs. Sarah M Seiber, 93, died at 11
a.m. Saturday at Lake City Health Care Center. Mrs. Seiber was preceded in
death by her husband, Richard Seiber. She was a member of the Tennessee
Hollow Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and quilting. Mrs. Seiber is
survived by two sons, the Rev. Albert Seiber and Jessie Seiber, both of
Lake City, daughter, Ellen Hawkins of Lake City, 27 grandchildren, 29
great-grandchildren and two great- great- grandchildren. Funeral services
were held Tuesday at the Grave Hill Baptist Church at Devonia with the
Revs. Edwin Phillips and Estel Jones officiating. Burial was in Tommy

Clinton, Ronald Sharp, Knoxville, daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Hayes, Powell,

Mary Jane Hatmaker Sharp 81, of Lake City died Friday, June 21, 1996 in
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mrs Sharp born Nov 26, 1914, in
Campbell County was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Charles Franklin Sharp, in 1993, sons, Arthur
Thomas Sharp and Bobby Lee Sharp; parents, Arthur and Betty Chadwick
Hatmaker; four brothers and three sisters. Survivors are daughters and
sons-in-law, Betty L and Charles Stephens of Lake City, Mary Sue and Gene
Horner of Lake City and Nancy J and Bill Beasley of Tacoma, Wash; son and
daughter-in-law, Bill "B. J." and Marcella Sharp of Richmond,
VA; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; sister Clara Wilson of
LaFollette. Family received friends 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, June 23, in Cox
Funeral Home, Lake City. Funeral service was 8:30 p.m. Sunday in Cox
Funeral Home chapel
with the Rev Howard Robbins and Rev Mike Foust officiating. Interment was

Ned Sharp
Sharp, Ned, age 73, of Lake City died March
5th at St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. Born and raised in Campbell
County, he was the son of the late Lee and Tinnie Sharp. Owner and
operator of Sharp's Garage in Lake City. Member of the Macedonia Baptist
Church where he was a deacon for 32 years. Survivors: wife, Phyllis Duncan
Sharp, two daughters, Mrs. Thomas
(Louise) Byrge and Mrs. Nancy Shrull, both of Lake City, son, J. L. Sharp
of Lake City, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one step-greatgrandchild.
Funeral was Friday at the Chapel of Martin Funeral Home Lake City with the
Rev. Audra Cooper, Rev. Ernest Ward and the Rev. Bill Slover officiating.

SHARPE, ROSIE MAY HATMAKER - age 92, of
Knoxville, originally from Campbell Co., passed away Monday, May 17, 1999,
after a short illness. Preceded in death by husband, Avery E. Sharpe;
parents, William A. and Suffie Hatmaker; three sisters and two brothers. Of
the Baptist faith, a longtime employee of the Hatmaker Grocery Store.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Harold M. (Speedy) and Peggy Sharpe,
Sr.; grandchildren, William A. Sharpe of Idaho, Cheryl Girard of Knoxville,
Harold M. Sharpe, Jr. of Oak Ridge;
great-grandchildren, Daniel Sharpe, Marie, Michael Sharpe of Lenoir City;

Lake City Youth Killed At Harlan
The body of Roy Sharp, 18 year-old youth, killed Tuesday
afternoon by a truck in Harlan, Ky, has been brought to Martin Funeral Home,
Lake City. The youth had gone to Harlan to work for a rolling store company.
Martin Funeral Home, said it is understood Tuesday was his first day on the
job. The store company operates out of Harlan. A truck, the funeral home
said, was understood to have back over the youth. He is survived by his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Sharp, two brothers, Leon and Troy Sharp of
Lake City, and three sisters, Mrs. Horace Russell, of Morley, Tenn., Mrs.
Clarence Wallace and Miss. Geneva Sharp, of Lake City. The funeral rites
will be said at Main Street Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Thursday, the Rev. T.

Mrs. Shoopman Oliver Springs Dies Saturday
Mrs. Nettie Seiber Shoopman, 60, of the Cove
community at Oliver Springs Rt.1, died Saturday night at Oak Ridge
Hospital. Mrs. Shoopman was a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church and
the wife of Will M. Shoopman. She also leaves two daughters, Miss. Nancy
Shoopman and Miss. Ruth Shoopman, a step-daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Willis,
four sons, James, Winfred, Gene and Lowell Shoopman, and a step-son,
Lawrence Shoopman, three sisters, Mrs. Myra Duncan, Mrs. Elizabeth Sisson
and Miss. Hannah Seiber, two brothers, Andy and Walter Seiber, six
children and a great-grandchild, all of whom live in the Oliver Springs
area. Services were Tuesday at Indian Creek Baptist Church with the Rev.

Stella Mae Simmons, 87, died Saturday in the home of her daughter in Holiday,
Fla from a long illness. Mrs Simmons was a retired welder with Eatons in
Cleveland, Ohio. She was a long-time Briceville resident and an active member
of Briceville Church of God before her illness. She enjoyed quilting,
fishing and gardening, family members said. She was preceded in death by her
parents, Robert and Melda Harness; and brothers, Tom, James, Green, Cliff and
Bill Harness. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce Wesley
Brown of Holiday, Fla; five grandsons, Paul Jr,
Scott, Patrick and Pete Holoska and Jacob Brown all of Florida;
granddaughter, Sherry of Cleveland, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Martin
Funeral Home chapel, Lake City with the Rev Jeryl Barnett officiating. Burial
will be in Circle Cemetery, Briceville. Family will receive friends 7 to 9

Stokes, Boyd James Buddy, age 81 of Corryton, Tennessee, passed
away July 11, 2005 after a long battle with cancer. He grew up on Cornell
Avenue in Knoxville where the UT Fraternity houses are now located. A graduate
of Young High School Class of 1942, he attended the University of Tennessee
and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He was a retired Merchant
Marine Corps Captain who proudly served his country during World War II, the
Korean War, and the Vietnam conflict. He was of the Catholic faith. An avid
genealogist, he loved his large extended family and wide circle of friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. Stokes and Sadie Leinart Stokes;
brothers, Basil and Earl Stokes of Seattle, Washington; Ervin and Robert
Stokes of Knoxville; Roy Stokes of Dunkirk, New York; and sister Marjorie
Stokes Petree Chambers of Atlanta, Georgia. Survivors: Sister-in-law Jeanne
Mary Foley Stokes of Dunkirk, New York; special niece Susan Stokes Petree
Shelley and husband Zack H. Shelley, Jr. of Tallahassee, Florida; cousins
Albert Edward Williams and wife Ann; and Betty Lou Sewell of Knoxville. He
also leaves many nieces and nephews who enjoyed their Uncle Buddy. Service: A
graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 22 at
Woodlawn Cemetery, Father Xavier Mankel officiating. In lieu of flowers,
