Jewell Reed Dies After Brief illness
The son of a former Clinton resident suddenly fell over unconscious at his Merietta, Ga., home and died three days later, relatives here have learned. He was Jewell Reed, 37, who worked for Lockheed. The father of three small children, had never been ill. Reed was the son of Mrs. Myrtle Cox Reed. Sam Cox, Mrs. John Williams and Mrs. Robert Wallace, all of Clinton are aunts and uncles, Mrs. John Graham and Mrs. Cecil Stooksbury of Andersonville are aunts. He also leaves his wife, Betty, a daughter, Cynthia 3, two sons, Jeffery 10, and David 8, and a brother, John Reed, Fairfield, Calif. Services were Friday in Cleveland, Tenn., where his mother now makes her home and Jewell grew up. (donated by Susie Bullock [email protected] )

Alice Ruth Ridenour, 80, of Clinton, died Thursday, May 22, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born July 16, 1922, in Dandridge, she was the daughter of Rex and Minnie Dockery, both now deceased. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Clinton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Carson Ridenour. Mrs. Ridenour is survived by three daughters, Jacqueline S. Fagan of Crystal River, Fla., Vickie Csurny and husband, John, of Clinton, and Sherri G. Ridenour of Knoxville; two sons, Dr. James C. Ridenour and wife, Susan, of Lexington, Ky., and Ronald H. Ridenour and wife, Linda, of Clinton; four grandchildren, Kara Ridenour, Amy Shepherd and husband, Jason, Chip Ridenour and wife, Donna, David Ridenour and wife, Elizabeth; three great-grandchildren, Andie, Carson and Bennett; and by one brother, Earl Dockery and wife, Myrna, of Ocala, Fla.
The family recognizes Mrs. Ridenour's pets, Lucy and Abbie, as special pets. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton, with the Rev. Don Thomas officiating. George W. Ridenour Sr.
George Walter Ridneour Sr., 78, retired Anderson County Trustee, died Friday morning at his home at 210 Pine St., Clinton, after a lingering illness. The Campbell County native served in the county office from 1954 to 1974.He also worked at the City and County Bank after his retirement until 1982. Ridenour was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. He and his wife, the former Betty Meredith, had been married for 55 years. He was a member of Memorial Untied Methodist Church, and the Clinton Masonic Lodge No.376 where he was a 32nd degree Mason. Ridenour also served as Past Worthy. Patron of the Eastern Star in Oak Ridge and was a member of Shriner Kerbela Temple in Knoxville and Clinton Loins Club. He and his wife enjoyed playing bridge as a hobby and had been honored by the Clinton Duplicate Bridge Club in their golden anniversary. Ridenour was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara B. Ridenour, a son, George W. Ridenour Jr., and a daughter-in-law, Mary Frank Ridenour. Survivors include his wife, Betty, a son and daughter-in-law, Roger L. and Lyndall Ridenour of Clinton, grandchildren, Lea Ellen Ridenour, Darren Ridenour, Terri A. Ridenour, David Ridenour and his wife, Lisa, and Lewis Ridenour, great-grand-daughter, Alexia D. Ridenour, brothers, J. Carson Ridenour of Clinton, Bob Ridenour of Portsmouth, Va., and Judge Billy R. Ridenour, who is also mayor of Sweetwater, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday night at Holly-Gamble Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Glasow officiating. J. Carson Ridenour Sr., 93, of Clinton, died Monday, March 4, 2002, at Windwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton. Born Sept. 13, 1908, in Newcomb in Campbell County, he was the son of Lewis and Elphia Lane Ridenour.
Mr. Ridenour formerly served as minority leader in the Tennessee Legislature. He was a founder of the Ridenour Law Firm in Clinton, now known as Ridenour & Ridenour and Fox Law Firm. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Clinton. Mr. Ridenour was also a former baseball, basketball and football coach in Anderson and Campbell counties, and at Stair Technical Institute in Knoxville, now Fulton High School. A 32nd-degree Mason, he was a member of Omega Masonic Lodge No. 536 in Oliver Springs, and he was a member of the Shrine temple in Knoxville. Mr. Ridenour is survived by his wife, Alice Dockery Ridenour; three daughters, Jacqueline S. Fagan of Crystal River, Fla., Victoria L. Csurny and her husband, John, of Clinton, and Sherrie G. Ridenour of Knoxville; two sons, James C. Ridenour and his wife, Susan, of Lexington, Ky., and Ron Ridenour and his wife, Linda, of Clinton; his brother, Bill Ridenour of Sweetwater; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A private funeral will be held for the family. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 2200 Sutherland Ave., Portland Building, Suite H-102, Knoxville, TN 37919.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, March 5, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. L.L. Ridenour Dies After Brief illness
Lewis L. Ridenour, 88, 212 Oak St., Clinton, died at his home early Sunday following a brief illness. Mr. Ridenour, who was a member of the Campbell County Court for 18 years, taught in Campbell County schools for more than 50 years. He was an active member of Memorial Methodist Church. For a number of years he had made daily visit to the Courthouse in Clinton, stopping to visit with various county officials and others around the Courthouse. His daily trips were only interrupted by his recent illness. He was past state counselor of the Junior Order of American Mechanics and was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge. Although a widely known leader in Republican activities. Mr. Ridenour was recently made colonel on the staff of Gov. Frank Clement. He was also made an honorary citizen of Knoxville and Chattanooga. Mr. Ridenour is by his wife, Mrs. Elphia Layne Ridenour, four sons, J. Carson, a Clinton attorney, George W. Anderson County Trustee, Sweetwater attorney Billy R., and Robert T Ridenour with the U.S. Navy in Portsmouth, Va.,15 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Memorial Methodist Church with the Rev. J. Fort Fowler officiating. Burial was in Newcomb Cemetery in Campbell County. Death Claims Mary Frank Ridenour
Mary Frank Ridenour, wife of the late G. W. Ridenour Jr., of Clinton lost a extended fight with cancer with her death on Tuesday morning. Mary Frank, age 48, was an extremely well-liked and well-respected lady, who continued to show great courage during her illness. She had demonstrated that same courage and concern about her family and community in many ways as she pursued an active civic role in Clinton. Mary Frank is the daughter of Dr. Frank and Eva Gass Hobbs and the daughter-in-law of George and Betty Ridenour of Clinton. Funeral services will be held at the Memorial Church with Reverend Glasow. Mary Frank leaves daughter, Terri Lynn Ridenour, and sons David Brandt and Lewis Allen. She is also survived by a sister, Barbara (Mrs. James) O'Neal of Alcoa. Ridenour, Mary Heatherly, age 84, of Knoxville Convalescent Center, formerly of Lafollette passed away April 24. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Wife of the late Dr. George L. Ridenour of Caryville. Survivors: sister, Mable Heatherly, brothers, William and Henry Heatherly, all of Knoxville, Charles and George Heatherly, Detroit, Mich., several nieces and nephews. Miner Killed In Windrock Coal Shaft.
Joe Ernest Roberts,56,was killed while working in the Windrock Mine at Windrock Coal and Coke Co. Tuesday night at about 8:30p.m.when several mining cars ran over him. Mine Superintendent, W. F. Hayden said that miner inspectors who investigated early Wednesday afternoon, said the cause of the accident could not be determined. Mr. Roberts, of Oliver Springs, had worked for the mining company for 36 years. He was a motorman in the mine at the time of his death. The mine closed Wednesday because of his death. He is survived by his wife, Hattie, a son, Charlie, two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Breeden and Mrs. Viola Dunlap of Oliver Springs, mother, Mrs. Parlee Roberts, Oliver Springs, three stepdaughters, Mrs. Myrtle Bolden, Mrs. Eula Price both of Oliver Springs, and Mrs. Beulah Jackson, Illinois, three sisters, Mrs. Nanie Worthington, Mrs. Lon Lively,  Mrs. Mae Russell, Oliver Springs, 18 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2p.m.Friday at Indian Creek Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ellis Patterson will officiate. Sharp is in charge. ROSENBALM, ERNEST - age 80 of Clinton, passed away Friday, July 19, 2002 at the UT Medical Center in Knoxville, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a member of Carroll Hollow Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming. Preceded in death by parents, James L. & Francis E.
Rosenbalm; sisters, Lillie Bumgardner, Etta Muncey, Easter Warfield, Viola Johnson, Bonnie Ruth Rosenbalm & Arzella Cole; brothers, Oatie, Clyde, Henry, Barton "Joe", Millard & Rev. Jack Rosenbalm. He was born April 14, 1922 in

She is survived by her husband, J. L. Rosenbalm, six sons, Millard, the Rev. Jack Rosenbalm, Oatie, Ernest, all of Heiskell, Clyde of Merrillville, Ind., W. H. of Hobart, Ind. six daughters, Mrs. Dewey Munsey of Knoxville, Mrs. George Bumgardner, Mrs. E. J. Cole ,Mrs. John Warfield, all of Heiskell, Mrs. J. B. Johnson of Whiting, Ind. Mrs. Natalie Parolari of Crown Point, Ind. 34 grandchildren,55 great-grandchildren and five-great-great-grandchildren. four sisters, Mrs. Carey Larmer, Mrs. Arline Collins, Mrs. Lydia Mincy, all of Liberty Hill, Tenn. and Mrs. Etta Rosenbalm of New Tazewell. ROSENBALM, REV. JACK - age 75, of Clinton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, June 11, 2002, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was a member of Carroll Hollow Baptist Church. He had pastored various area
churches including Mineral Springs Baptist Church, Ridgeview Baptist Church, Guiding Star Baptist Church, Carroll Hollow Baptist Church, and held many revivals and preached in several churches throughout the Anderson and surrounding counties. He was a devoted husband, loving father and
grandfather, and a friend to all. He retired from Bush Brothers Cannery in Clinton with over 44 years of service. But his main joy in life was his church work. Preceded in death by parents, James and Frances Nicely Rosenbalm, and several brothers and sisters. Jack was born December 14, 1926, in Anderson County. Survivors: loving wife of 52 years, Carrie Lou Rosenbalm of Clinton; son, Donnie Rosenbalm and wife, Debbie of Andersonville; daughter, Deborah "Button" West and husband, Mike of Heiskell; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother, Ernest Rosenbalm of Clinton; sister, Neva Parolari of Heiskell; mother-in-law, Ollie Bullock of

Heiskell Man Dies At Home At Age 91.
A Heiskell Rt.1.man,James Lloyd Rosenbalm,91,of Pumpkin Hollow Rd.,died at 8:20p.m. Saturday at his home from complications of old age. Mr. Rosenbalm had been a farmer all his life. He was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church in Heiskel. There are 129 survivors. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Deep Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. J. D. Ridenour and the Rev. Larry Foust officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Rosenbalm is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Natalie (Veva) Parolaria of Andersonville, Mrs. George (Lillie) Bumgardner, Mrs. William (Arzella) Cole, Mrs. John (Ester) Warfield and Mrs. J. B. Funeral services for Oatie Rosenbalm,69,of Heiskell Rt.1.were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Deep Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Clarence Hammock and the Rev. Harrison Cawood officiating. Burial was in Sartin Cemetery. Rosenbalm died at 6:20p.m.Tuesday in Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville, were he had been a patient for three weeks. He was a retired farmer and a member of Deep Springs Church. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Rosella Cox of Franklin, O., two sons, Hubert L. Rosenbalm and Elmer Rosenbalm, both of Heiskell Rt.1., seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren., father, James Lloyd Rosenbalm, five brothers, Millard Rosenbalm and Estelle Rosenbalm and Ernest Rosenbalm all of Heiskell Rt.1.Clyde Rosenbalm and Henry Rosenbalm, both of Indiana, six sisters, Mrs. Ettie Munsey of Knoxville, Mrs. J. Betty Mae Russell
Betty Mae Russell, 63, of Oak Ridge, died Aug. 22 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after a short illness. She was a Redding, Pa. native and had lived on Cove Road in Oliver Springs
for 38 years before moving to Oak Ridge a year ago. She was a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence W. Russell, and a son J. W. Russell. Survivors include two sons, James Lee Russell of Oliver Springs and Eugene Russell of Oak Ridge, daughters, Tommie Faye Breeden and Helen Phillips, both of Oliver Springs, two sisters, Julie Harris of Crawford and Barbara Martin of Oliver Springs, a brother, Claude Herman Martin of Oliver Springs, 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday at Tuppertown Baptist Church with the Rev. Ellis Patterson offiicating. Burial was in Indian Creek Cemetery.
