Killed In Mines
Robert Phillips, aged 18 years, was instantly killed at Briceville last
Friday while at work in the mines. He was taking the cars into the mine
and at the switch passing the cars going out. It is thought at this
place the cars struck a timber knocking it down, letting rock weighing
near a ton fall on the young man, crushing out his life. McKinley
Braden, while coming out of the mine at Briceville accidentally touched
the trolley wire. He was knocked down and a gash two inches long cut on
the forehead. Thomas Sanders was injured Friday at Briceville coal mine
by falling slate. He was struck on the head and right shoulder, cutting
two gashes. (donated by Susie Bullock [email protected]
