Anderson County News Jan 2, 1931
In Memory Of Leah Leinart
Miss. Leah Leinart was born July 19, 1894, to Timothy and Josie Leinart. Her life came to a sudden end early on the morning of December 13 when she was struck by an automobile in front of the Clinton High school building. When only a child Leah was left an orphan. She went to the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Wallace at Leinart's where she lived throughout her life. She often made the remark that Uncle Billy and aunt Bell were the only father and mother she ever known, and to her closest friends they were ? Daddy and mother. Although, I have never had a sister, I don't believe a real sister could have been better to her own brother than Leah was to my three brothers and me. We have yet to ask a favor of her which was not granted. But she was not alone dear to her family circle composed of . W. J. Wallace and wife of Leinart, R. D Wallace and wife of Leinart, J. E. Leinart and wife of Atlanta, Ga., H. D. Wallace and wife of Greenville, N. C. , H. E. Wallace and wife of Knoxville, and a brother and sister, O. H. Leinart of Clinchmore and Mrs. Charles Miller of Coal Creek. Leah numbered her friends by her ? ? ? as was evidenced by the large crowd which attended her funeral and by many elaborate floral offerings. For many years she was an efficient employee of Magnet Knitting Mill where she had a host of friends. It was always her ambition never to be any trouble or expense to anybody. She has said many times that she was ready when it came her time to leave this earth and when that time came is wanted to go sudden. The heaven father saw fit to grant this wish. Incidently, her desire never to be expense to anybody was accomplished too. She carried sufficient insurance to meet her expenses. At an early age she professed her faith in Christ and joined Black Oak Ridge Baptist church where she served faithfully until her death. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Luther Wilson at the Sulpur Springs
Methodist church Sunday afternoon December 14, interment in Robbins cemetery. Messern Morgan, and  ?? Ring. Charles and Fletcher Sweet, Dorsey Patterson and Everette Wallace, cousins of Leah acted as pall-bearers. May I said in closing that she was all to me a sister could have been and that to Dad and mother she was all a daughter could have been.

LOWE, Derry-
Clinton Courier Sept 21,1967
Unseen Train Kills Retiree At Crossing
An Oliver Springs man was killed Saturday afternoon when his 1957 pickup truck stalled on the Dutch Valley Road crossing in Oliver Springs and was struck by an unscheduled freight train. Derry Lowe, 65, a retired Union Carbide Corp. employee, was pronounced dead on arrival at Oak Ridge Hospital. The accident occurred within 150 yards of Lowe's home and according to state law, the train engineer John Kettle, 51, of Knoxville, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. The crossing is on a curve with high weeds only a few yards from it, making it difficult to see more than a short distance down the tracks. No one can remember now if the train's whistle blew"/said Mrs. John Bass who lives at the crossing" sometimes they don't. Oliver Springs Police Chief Hobart Seiber said Saturday that the engineer told him the speed of the Southern Railway freight was about 30 miles and hour and that the door of the pickup was open. Seiber, said a further check of city ordinances may lead to an additional charge, as city train speed limit is 20 miles per hour. Lowe, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Bunch Lowe, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann Sylvia of Oliver Springs Rt.2, two sons, Herman and Ralph, both of Oliver Springs, Rt.1 and six grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday at the Mineral Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Hayes Bass and the Rev. Earl Lassator officiating. (donated by Susie Bullock [email protected] )
