Siel DK 70- Owned from August-December 2000, bought for $75, traded for ARP Quartet. Serial number 269.

This wasn't one of my better purchases. I bought this broken, in good condition, with the cool blue gig bag, thinking that I could fix and sell it. Well once I got it I realized that I couldn't fix it- even after getting schematics (which took a couple of months) I had no idea what to do. I thought it was a power supply problem or something, but the voltages seemed fine. It just didn't power up. So after a while I got rid of it.

The DK 70 is essentially an Italian Korg Poly 800 with a few differences- there are 2 LFOs that are more flexible than the one on the Korg (multiple waveforms and initial level/final level/delay controls), a slightly different oscillator configuration, and velocity (by midi only). There is just a pitch wheel instead of a joystick, but there is an optional mod stick thing with a ribbon controller for playing like a guitar.

Inside, I don't remember much about it except that it's pretty poorly built. The CPU is a TMS7000, and the filter is an SSM 2045.

Similar models include the DK 80 which has a 5 octave keyboard (vs. 4), 12 voices, and bitimbral capabilities, and the Expander 80, which oddly seems to be a module version of the DK 70.

pictures: I didn't have a camera at the time so I put it on my scanner.
