Alesis 1622- Owned from February 2003 to present, bought for about $190

When it came time to upgrade from the crappy KM802 mixer, I looked on ebay for mixers in the $200 price range. I ended up finding the Alesis 1622, which seemed to have much better features than anything else I could find in that price range- most importantly, 16 channels and 6 aux sends. The EQ is a bit weak compared to some mixers, consisting only of high and low shelving controls, but it's better than what I was using. There are 2 pre-fader sends and 4 post-fader sends, with master level controls for each aux send, and then 4 rows of switches to mute, solo, or route to the master or sub-master bus. And of course panning. There are 8 aux returns, 4 with panning controls and 4 that are hard-panned left and right, for stereo processors. Etc. There are a lot of nice features that I'm not going to use, like a control room microphone input, direct outs for 8 channels, and XLR microphone inputs for the other 8, etc. It sounds good, with no scratchy faders or pots. It's not a Mackie or anything like that, but it's fine for me.
