B is for Beatles. Why the hell does everyone love the Beatles? �They�re so great, the best band of all time� no brainers say�.Try no. They aren�t. They aren�t even in my top ten but every moron without the intellect to muster their own opinion says the Beatles are awesome as a default answer. That�s bullshit. Since when has popular culture been predetermined like this? Why do people love the Beatles so much? I asked one moron who was happy to give an answer�. �They were free-thinkers, they came up with ideas of peace and love�� well holy shit�.peace? As in�no war? Whoa, how did they come up with a concept like that? You mean they promoted people not fighting etc. That is staggering�.I mean it wasn�t that revolutionary was it. And as for Love, every shitty pop song I can think of revolves around mushy bullshit like love�why were the Beatles so different? They weren�t, they weren�t politically revolutionary�they wrote catchy pop songs�.fucking pop songs. That�s all. Idiots who are looking for modern day messiahs post Lennon (especially) as a martyr when all he did was fire clich�d hippy words (peace, love, tranquillity etc.) at the masses. He might say �Peace..� And all his loyal goons are like �Whoa, he�s right. Peace�it�s all so simple now� I could have said peace�.look, peace, peace, peace. It�s bullshit, everything about them. The fact that they are forever frozen in time as the fab four�why? They weren�t that good, they went trans-Atlantic�ok, they wrote some catchy pop songs�so did Aqua, Barbie Girl, Dr. Jones and Turn back time to name but three. When did the world become so starved of good people that three musician (and Ringo Starr) become icons? I mean, I�m not against musicians becoming cultural icons, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Terry Hall and Bob Geldof (ha ha) all make vast contributions to the world of politics but the Beatles weren�t really that good at the whole politics thing, they were bubble-gum politics, the type that deals with idealistic morals striving to reach utopia, not real nitty gritty topics.
I don�t think the Beatles suck, I like some of their music, a lot of it is very good, in fact I think I have an album or two. I think that they were good, perhaps even great�.but best band of all time? No. I hate most of all though that people assume they are awesome because they�ve been told they are by someone else. I once said to a group of friends �I don�t like the Beatles that much and I think the Stones were a better band� Not only did they all start shouting and (trying to) belittle me, people I didn�t even know where coming up and delivering their bullshit theory on why the Beatles were awesome. Things like �Half the bands wouldn�t exist today without the Beatles��.why? Were they gonna ban music before the Beatles showed up? Why exactly wouldn�t their have been half the bands around today? I know people are implying that the Beatles influenced every band in the world today, so the music wouldn�t be the same�.we wouldn�t have the audio delights of Blue, Scooter and Blazin� Squad�.what exactly am I thanking them for again? But even if you do credit the Beatles with the revolutionising of music, you need look no further than John Lennon who was quoted as saying �Before Elvis there was nothing�� Does this mean that all the Beatles credit should transfer to Elvis? Hell no, you can go even further back�.past the Beatle, past Elvis past Mozart past everything�.it just doesn�t matter. Another moron said they created some of the best music ever made�..nope. The Beatles were great at this�.what they�d do is go and listen to some music and re-create it with a slight twist�.this is no secret�Sgt. Pepper was based on Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys, Rubber Sole was based on Hot Rats and other Frank Zappa albums�.they simply modified their musical influences. I just hate this untouchable artistic throne that only the Beatles have and will ever obtain, no matter how good any band is they�ll never be as good as the Beatle�.bullshit. One idiot stood out in my mind, their argument was �John Lennon�Imagine�� well that�s the single biggest load of bollocks I�ve ever heard in my life, firstly if you�re argue be relevant�.just because John Lennon was in the Beatles does not make his solo career relevant to this argument, and what is it with imagine? Who honestly thinks it�s the best song of all time? Its way to simple�I could of wrote that song if I would have been born�.it�s bullshit. In fact what is it with dead people winning awards? It�s either John Lennon and Imagine or Queen and Bohemian Rhapsody. It doesn�t matter who wins because it�s the same thing all the time�a moving tribute to the life of a legend�..*barf*. Either Freddy Mercury or John Lennon being talked about by all their showbiz buddies. Not just that shitty best song poll either�there was a most influential artist in hip hop award, Tupac and the Notorious B*I*G got approximately 70% of the votes between them�has it become illegal to give honours to people who are alive? If I�m dead before I get my first award I�m gonna come back and haunt people.
Last point�..answer me this�.how long has it been offensive to have your own opinion? Just because I don�t agree that the Beatles are the greatest thing ever, I�m sick of people trying to shove this Beatlemania bullshit down my throat�.the only reason there has been a surge is because my generation have nothing to look up to no icons and nobody to respect, they�ve searched and searched to no avail�..well search no more�here I am......embrace me. |
