How and Why we have these silly Motorbikes The Royal Enfield Motorcycle story (not our story)
I was in search for my perfect "green" machine. Now... I know that motorcycles are about as green as it gets, but I wanted to run a non petroleum fuel. Electric? No..to expensive and high tec to get in a big bike. Burn alcohol? Not for me. I wanted cheap fuel. I could still my own, but thats a whole nother art.

I really like diesel and I run Bio in my truck. I have friends that have converted their cars to SVO (straight Veggie oil) and its really fun. I live near a ton of restaurants that I can get oil from. I think its the way to go for me, But where to get a diesel bike? I know all ask the all knowing interweb. Sure enough there it was a production diesel motorbike.
The problem was that it was in India, and had been out of production for a long time. Lucky for me I have been messing about with bring old bikes into the country for some time now. A friend who imports vintage bikes from India (thats where the diesel Royal Enfields are) asked his guy over there if he could find me 2 diesel bikes. He was able to find them and crated them up for me.
| When I got them they were pretty beat up. I am now starting the process of tearing them down and cleaning and painting them. Royal Enfield USA has the manuals and all the parts that I will need to fix them up (less the diesel engine parts). The pictures are of the bikes just out of the boxes.
