1929 BOUTIQUE HOTEL - 2 October 2003 (Part I)                                                                                                                                   BACK

This is a boutique hotel that I had seen apart from the Gallery Hotel. I have no idea how this one looks like, but Gallery is totally so much different from this one. Gallery is so much more bigger and a modern building. This one however is a left behind corner unit coffee shop that is going through restoration. It is called 1929 HOTEL and situated at Keong Saik Street, very near Outram Part MRT station in Chinatown area of Singapore. Thus, in terms of scale, all the rooms are very small, but at least the bedrooms are still bigger than my hostel rooms.

Going to the hotel from the main road, you will see the big logo of 1929 above it, so you won't miss it since the whole thing is painted white. I am relieved that it is actually white and not other funny colours they are trying out, like very desperate to get your attention.

The front facade and the backlane of the hotel. I don't have much energy to walk all the way through, don't know the site well so just take a snapshot of the whole stretch down.

The 5-foot-way! hehe! Well, feels like one, don't exactly know whether it is really 5 feet wide. The view into the cafe from the exterior.

Look MA! Fish! Yippie! I think perhaps the hotel is small, thus, the fish tank has to be small, and the fish they choose have to be small too.

This is how the cafe looks like in the interior. It is situated at the left wing from the entrance.

The counter with many cool clocks on the wall. The chair just want to get lotsa attention. :) Another barber chair just beside the entrance. There are many collections of different chairs all over the place.

This heart shaped chair is situated beside the lift. Now you can understand how tight the space really is. Inside the lift, you will see a wallpaper filled with chairs. This reminds me of that Italian exhibition I went to.

This is the suite at the top floor, I think on the 4th. Some stuff I think I saw them in IKEA at Queensway. Some chairs are very retro, some are so cool and feel very comfortable. This is one of the suites they have. Both suites have balconies with open exterior bathtubs. This one on the extreme left of the wing has apartments opposite it overlooking down, so may not have so much privacy.

The ceiling with openings, perhaps jack roof at the top. The cool bowl shape basin. It is all over the place!

The exterior balcony with the glass door. You can see the bathtub there.

This is the deluxe room. There is no room for wardrobe so this is the only way you can hang your clothes.

The tiles used for the washing basin and toilet is different from those in the suite type.

This is going out to the balcony at the back of the whole building. They have a jacuzzi there.
