WAR ON IRAQ: SOMETHING TO PONDER IN PHILOSOPHY
Book 6: Plato's Republic of Socrates: PHILOSOPHY AND POLITICS We live in a world controlled by opinions. Opinion is always changing. Philosophy is knowledge. Politics is not; it is about opinion and constantly dividing human beings. It never recognizes philosophy. Thus, we are trap in the world and will never know who the wise guy is.
We all have opinions but never know the truth. Thus, in the world of knowledge, we are somehow lost. Religions of the world are seeking the ONE TRUTH. Everyone claim they know the truth and question the truth of the other religion. Hence, the world is divided between truths. Conflicts, wars and fightings all occured because the understanding of justice is divided. Human beings cannot judge because of divided opinions. Jews Vs. Palestinians, Muslims Vs. Christians, Cold War (Liberal Vs. Communistic)...all these because of their beliefs in some ideas and doctrines or truths they are upholding.
This is because opinions always require constant change and we are always victims to people who know and claim to know the truth. Philosophy thus has a bad influence in the world because it has bad reputation and seems useless. People see it as a stupid subject spending time talking nonsence, rubbish and creates irritation. Religion however at least has good reputation to answer and try to solve all the questions and worries of mankind.
OPINION - experience of things in their varieties KNOWLEDGE - understanding of an idea in unity and university
The war in Iraq divides the world into two major opinions. People who support or go against it. Human beings take so much pride in what they believe in and thus this war will create more disharmony in the world. Opinion can destroy humanity and the world. Do think about it and give philosophy a chance for telling you this. |
